Meet Razz, our Bearded Dragon!

Susielea

Lily
Finally our boy Razz has overcome his fear of having his photo taken :dancer:

In the past, whenever a camera, phone or anything unusual was pointed at him, he would scuttle off into his hide and stay there for ages

But today I was taking some pics of some eggs I'm incubating for someone else, for an update, when Razz caught sight of the camera. Uhoh I thought and quickly hid it behind my back, expecting him to make a run for it. To my surprise, he moved along his tank, as if trying to see what I was hiding. I decided to reveal the camera and see what happened, and amazingly he didn't run, he actually seemed quite interested.

So I slowly uncapped the lens, he sat there watching, I took a couple of pics through the glass (no flash), he still sat there, I called my Hubby over to see and he opened the sliding glass door, Razz still sat there, so I continued taking pics!

I swear he literally posed for me :) He was so chilled out I even got the camera in the tank for some close ups! :dancer: He's usually a much brighter red when he fires up, but I'm not complaining, I'm just overjoyed that we've finally got some photos of him :)

So, meet Razz our camera shy boy :D

Thanks for the nice comments guys :)

He has got a bit of 'tude...lol...but he's not nasty in any way, he just knows what he likes and what he doesn't. ;)

He's been a bit slow and depressed looking over the last couple of months, and has been eating only sparingly, but has not lost weight or condition, we thought this was like a mini winter shut down. He started picking up last week when he shed, and is getting back to eating us out of house and home...:)

Maybe the slow down has changed the way he sees things, as he is also happier about being handled and is more chilled with activity outside his tank. He even came to the front to see what was going on, when our Grandson was here this morning. We used to try to keep Brandon away from the front of the tank, because Razz was so skittish, but he was absolutely fine with Brandon watching him today, so we're really pleased that he seems happier :)

Thanks again!

Wow... those are some awesome pics of a great looking lizard.

Thanks for the compliments!

im amazed by his colors

Thank you, when he fires up properly again, I'll see if I can take some more pics, he turns a lovely Tomato red all over :) I think he was still a little unsure about the camera and didn't stay bright long enough for me to catch it in the pics, maybe next time he will ;)

Isn't it cool how they can change colors? Isabel is a citrus, and she can be bright yellow, bright yellow with orange and dark orange trip, pale tan and gray with black spots all over, and many other colors. I like plain yellow the best. And then there's the blackbearding!

Yes, it amazes me with the amount of colour change they have, Razz can go from nearly black with reddish undertones, to bright Tomato red in a matter of minutes, especially when chasing food and he just loves to be hand fed

I'll have to show Razz a pic of Isabel and see what he thinks ;) We are considering getting him a mate, but have not decided for sure yet, as he's only now becoming more sociable and we wouldn't want to spoil that :)
