Meet "Rufus"

Great thread! Just curious where you aquired him from? Also, would love to see more pics of the current housing he stays in. I'm fresh in the market to buy a corn snake with my 7 year old and hoping I can find a little guy to raise up with as wonderful an attitude and as friendly as your Rufus is!

I got him in Nashville from a Reptile Breeder/Store.

There are pictures of his current housing in this thread (somewhere, LOL).
But I'm enclosing a small pic here of the front of the enclosure. It's an "Exo Terra" 30 gallon with front opening. This picture was taken yesterday (1/28/17)

Thanks for the info and the enclosure looks great!

Rufus is going to be 2 years old in a few days. He's still a youngster in reality, but he's in full blown mating mode right now. For the past 2 weeks he tries to mate with my arm when I take him out of the cage. (the herky jerky dance and constant massaging). Then yesterday he refused to eat. And for the past few days he's constantly roaming his cage looking for his Lady.

Poor guy. We will just have to wait this out.

I figured he was too young to exude this type of behavior, but I guess not.

Sweet and Shiny

Somebody shed last night, and looking very cute and shiny this morning

Not only is he adorable, Karl, but he has that sweet corn snake "look". So shiny, too. Love your boy. What an awesome snake!

Happy Meal

Rufus didn't eat last weekend because he was in the process of shedding.

I was going to feed him tomorrow morning because I have always had him on a Sunday schedule, but I just can't stand hearing him whimper and scream, "I wants my Mouse!"

So I went ahead and fed him just now.

At least he's quiet when his mouth is full.

Somebody wants to come out and play

Rufus was hanging out by the front opening of his cage this morning, so I opened the doors and he came out to see me.

He's such a person. I do t agree with people who say snakes don't care for their people. They make connections and feel happy when their owners treat them like pets, instead of like "things."
You and Rufus are proof of that. I look forward to your postings, Karl.
Thank you for the weekly pick-me-up.

Bella will do that too!! I'll open the top and hold my hand out and she will come right out!! One of the many reasons I say there's no doubt in my mind that my corns know who I am!!
