Hi all
I ran out of mice last feed so im gonna order some more mice today,What size mouse can a 13-14 in snake handle??He has been on pinkies but "the mouse factory" has 50 pinkies in one pack and i think that is to much so should i buy a pack of 25 fuzzys??Do u think the lil guy could handle a fuzzy??Or should i just get 50 large pinkies?? ugh lol i donno:p

Zach, why don't you just buy both? You will eventually need the fuzzies, so you can't go wrong ordering the fuzzies. If you end up with extra pinkies, just buy another corn snake this summer to use them up. In fact, maybe you want to buy some extra pinkies so you will be sure and have some extras. If you have the extra space in a deep freezer, then the vacuum packed mice will last a long time.

It is hard to be certain when a snake will eat fuzzies. I think that they are a little big for a 13-14 inch snake. It depends a lot on how fat the snake is. My snakes were at least 3/8 inch diameter and over 20 inches before I started feeding fuzzies.

My 14 inch 02 amel can handle pinkies from the smallest to larger size (the smallest pinkies don't even leave a bump, the larger ones do), she is quite slender bodied, however. My 18 inch 02 anery has just moved up to fuzzies, but he is twice as big around as she is. He has had quite a time of trying how to figure how to get the fuzzies down, but he has and he has grown so much faster this month.
 
Ok thanx guys i think im gonna do what mark said buy both!I have 2 more quistion how many large pinks do u think i should feed my lil guy at one time and after how long do i move back down to only feeding once a week??Is 2 large pinkies every 5 days good??

I just turned out buying 100 peach fuzzies because thay are in the middle on a pinkie and a fuzzie so i diddent have to get both.Thank u for your replies!:p
 
My 20 inch corn can just handle fuzzies so I would stick with pinkies. The place where I get them from has small to large pinkies so just go with larger pinkies if they are available.
 
More important than food size is your feeding practices.

What is your schedule and how much do you feed per setting? Where you able to feed two pinkies at a time without regurges? Is you snake really 13-14 inches? That is a pretty small snake to be eating even a peach fuzzy. If you feed two pinkies per setting, twice a week, 50 pinkies really doesn't last that long.

Just a few thoughts.
 
umm i just measured and hes about 15-16 in's and yes he eats 2 pinkies hes never regurged...Could he handle a peach fuzzie every 5 days??

I think she should be fine with a small fuzzy. I had my corn eating to large pinkies for about a month before I moved her up to a small fuzzie.
 
You'll just have to try

I have seen several that same size eat a full sized fuzzy. Select the smallest fuzzy you have and give it a go. Once you have safely established that it can keep a fuzzy down for a couple of feedings, try to decrease the time between feedings.
