Min-Pin X Pitbull?

Why not?

Pets have to come from somewhere, they don't just appear from nowhere.

would it be different if they were registered and I charged $500 apiece?
Why? Because there are homeless dogs and puppies dying in shelters every day. That's why.

Oh, and no. It wouldn't be different if they were purebred and you charged $500. Same thing, breeding dogs when there are enough homeless ones already.

you remind me of the websites i saw when i was researching Cavy breeding. Tis one site was written in the PITA style, and indicated that enough Cavys were homeless, so you should NEVER breed.
I hate to say it, but there are lots of people out there who only want a young critter they can bring up themselves. if there were no puppies available, than they wouldnt have a pet.
Would you like m to tell you that you should not have children of your own becuase there are shelters full of homeless kids? no......

A pit of my own

I have ot agree with the best dogs I have owned have been pit crosses. The newest one we have is a RESCUE from my wifes Vet hospital. She is right on my avatar. Beautiful Pups anyway! We think mine is a Beagle or maybe a Jack Russel pit cross. We have to see how she grows.

Hey Clint,

I don't know if this is already in the plan later on or not, but I just wanted to add a little recommendation for the health of your female...I'd spay her, too. It's too late to get the benefit of early spaying to virtually wipe out the chance of mammary cancer, but the risk of pyometra in older intact females is enough to make me spay any bitch that isn't to be a breeder. Pyometra is a condition where the uterus becomes infected, filled with pus, and leads to a critically ill older female in little time at all. Treatment is surgical, but much more risky and costly than a routine spay. We see way more come in than we should, and at that point you are talking a huge surgical bill and a very sick girl. I'm not trying to harp, just add a little info to the thread. :D An ounce of prevention could save her life later on. They don't all go on to pyometra, but a startling number of them do. To me, it's not worth the risk. :)

Cute pups. I've had both mutts from the shelter and purebred dogs. Both routes have their advantages and disadvantages. You go with what you love. The mutt vs. purebred debate will be settled right about the same time the locality vs. color phase debate and the hybrid debates are settled. ;)

I had a neurotic pedigree Jack Russel when I was a kid and later on a very handsome (and he knew it) standard poodle with emotional problems from national champion parents -and as smart and gorgeous as they both were, my nicest dog (all around) was a short coat border collie x curly coat retriever. I could start up about how cute and smart and perfect she was...but you'd never stop me!

Oh, gotta add, our dalmation x lab(?) turned totally psycho and we had to have her put down and our 2 salukis shreddeded 17 of 18 rabbit kits in 20 mins without eating even one-it was just sport to them. -and- Our Airdale was so friendly he'd probably show the robbers right where we kept the jewelry and/or lick them to death!

They're all gone now. (Except mine!)

They were given away free to homes of my approval.

Connie, she is going to be spayed as soon as the vet will accept her, thanks for your input.

There are tons of puppies in shelters that are homeless. Whether you want a little puppy or a full grown dog you can find what you're looking for in a shelter. Btw, I'm pretty much against PITA. Too radical for me. And the children thing....well, we aren't euthanizing hundreds of human children every day due to homelessness, are we?

No, but many are starving to death if your really looking for a cause. As a fellow animal lover, I see where you are coming from. However, if you want to speak out against what is wrong with the world there are a lot worse things out there than what happens in Clint Boyer's backyard.
Good Luck trying to stop everyone in the world from breeding their animals until all the shelters are empty.
Heck we do have people in shelters, man I really shouldn't have had my son. :shrugs:
Any idea how many people we could feed with the billions made by the pet industry? Where the world would be if we spent the same kind of money supporting humanity as we do on our leashes and pet beds? :sobstory:

I don't know.....according to snake haters, I have a den of horrors back there! :grin01:

I have to agree with Carol...if you want a cause, there are a lot of them out there. What about the homeles and starving children IN OUR OWN COUNTRY? We are all for taking care of the rest of the word and fixing it, what about our own people? What about all of the people, many of them children, with no health insurance? They can't afford medical care because they make too much for medicaid (sp?) but not enough to afford insurance premiums. Just a couple of things that are higher on my priority list than Clint's cute puppies.

Hope I don't offend anyone.

And this shows more responsibility, discretion, and care for the animal's welfare than ANY puppy mill breeder.

Rave on all you care to with "why did you let this happen?" -- obviously, it wasn't a planned breeding, but I'd tend to believe that Clint's thought process was "now that this has happened, what will I do for their best interest?"

If only homo sapiens were as thoughtful after their OWN "unplanned" breedings as Clint was with his canis familiaris mating, we might have a discussion of merit here. Otherwise - imho - it's just posturing.

(and btw......they're ADORABLE!)

regards,
jazz

If you can't afford the kids....you shouldn't have them!! Don't make me pay for them with the food stamps and medical given out. As far as I'm concerned, if you're on welfare.....you should be spayed too!....or neutered, whichever....

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but I hope nothing ever happens to you or your family and you need assistance. My parents used to feel the same as you and then my dad became disabled and they couldn't survive on my moms salery. Now they collect social security and my mom still works. They aren't lazy or irresponsible, they just can't make it on their own right now

Sorry, I just realized that my response didn't have anything to do with having kids while collecting goverment aid. The whole GA thing just gets me overly emotional :(

I couldn't agree more! They should go back to checks. Get them quarterly, along with your Depo shot. No shot, no check!
