Im using a zilla thermometer/hygrometer...it worked great for the first couple days but now the hygrometer part isnt working. It reads --% for the humidity. Does anybody else use this? If so is the thing not working or am I just not smart enough to figure it out?:) Thanks!
 
That might be my problem then. Is one probe for temp and the other for humidity? If so do you keep the hygrometer under the bedding too? Thanks!
 
The left side probe is for the thermometer. I have it right on top of my UTH, under the substrate. I use it to read the hottest spot in the viv. For the cool side I just use one of the little round metal thermometers.
The right side probe is for the hygrometer. I have it at the middle of my viv about two inches above the substrate.

Same here...:)

When I tried this it registered 73% then counted back down to --%. So my humidity must be below 30%. Looks like its time to make a humid hide!
 
Sorry for dredging up another old thread but I thought this was very interesting...

I didn't realise how dry the air was in my house. The heater (house not UTH) has been on the whole time Sixx has been here and the humidity in his viv never got above 30%...even when it was 80% outside. Today was the first time it was nice enough to have the doors and windows open and the hygrometer is showing its 42% humidity in the viv. So I am assuming his humidity is going to be higher over the summer when the heat is turned off? Just one of those things that make you go hmmm...
 
Yeah house heaters dry out the air like crazy. My place is usualy around 60%, but when winter hit and the furnace came on it dropped like a rock to 20-ish%.
