And my son's teacher said she highly doubted a corn would do this! Priceless!

great picture.

Corns are members of the constrictor family. Kings and rat snakes are also. This usually doesn't happen much with F/T meals, but some animals do it no matter what they are fed.

Tell your sons teacher to take the mouse and wiggle it a little when the snakes got ahold of it; constriction is a natural instinct to subdue moving and potentially dangerous prey. Snakes also usually prever to save their energy whenever they can, so if they dont need to hold down their prey many wont. I have a boa who wont constrict when his thawed rat isnt dancing, and i have corns who constrict every time no matter what.

Well, I'm glad the previous owner warned me first, I jumped and laughed so hard, I'm afraid I hurt his feelings! And I didn't know that corns were constrictors, so the teacher and I are both now educated a little better!

You did NOT know corns are constrictors when you bought it? So, what were you thinking; "It is venomous" or "It just bites its preys to dead"?

It is a gorgeosu corn by the way? You know the morph? It does not look like a regular snow...

Blutengel,

Umm... well we didn't realize he would do it that quick. I still do not know which snakes belong to which groups, I guess everyone who has a snake knew EVERYTHING on the first day? I know what I need to know to provide him with a great home and am learning more daily. He is an OPAL from Moreptiles, his parents were SerpenCo stock.

I woudl think that the type of killing a snake uses is priority to know.... otherwise one coudl buy a venomous snake instead of a constrictor... but if you knew that it was not venomous, it is ok.

Yes, I knew enough to know it wasn't venomous, as I have children. Sorry I didn't know that a corn would constrict a frozen thawed pinkie. The whole point of the post was that I found it cute that he did, and he normally doesn't. He hasn't done it since. Didn't mean to baffle you with my ignorance. :santa: But in the spirit of the holiday, I don't mean to be contrary.
