mites in bedding?

Hi all, I'm new, but I recently had a rather negative experiance with the aspen bedding I bought because the same night I changed the bedding I found mites all over my snake! I was just wondering if anyone else has this experiance and how common it is? Because it's such a hassle!! This is my first snake and I hadn't dealt with mites before so I hope I got rid of all of them. :smash: So are commerically sold aspen beddings usually good? I did notice the bad I had a small hole so maybe they got in that way?? Thanks for any imput

There is something called aspen mites, but they are bigger than snake mites, and white or tan colored, and they don't harm the snake. Black grain of pepper-sized snake mites shouldn't have come from the bag of aspen. Which did you see? How long have you had the snake?

Hi thanks for replying - I had to manually take out two black specks on my snake by his throat. So I'm pretty sure they were mites??? They were definitely black too not tan or white. So it couldn't have come from the bedding? I've had the snake for 5 weeks now and haven't seen anything like this before. Would they have been hidden for that long?
