moist hide?

ok so i now know that a most hide can be as simple as a container with a damp towel in it..thats what i did.. my question is.. does it have to be damp and in the tank all the time.. or only during shed times?

Focus on the shed times. When in "blue".

I agree - just put it in when he goes blue.

I left one in a viv for several weeks to act as a laying box. The female settled into it and wouldn't come out unless I physically removed her for feeding/cleaning. She stayed in there so long that she ended up with a fungal infection. To add insult to injury, she never did lay eggs.

I let Choco keep hers all the time, because she loves it so much, but I have moss in it and it dries out, then I just leave it dry till the next shed. So Choco, the 300+ fatty kingsnake packs herself into the little Gladware container the size I use to feed my hatchlings in. She just loves it.

I leave one in for my corn (and my cali) all the time now and they use it a heck of a lot. You would think they wouldn't be able to find the entrance cut in the clear plastic container, but they know just where it is.

ok ill leave one in there for now and see hoe it goes.. and whats the first sign of a shed??

your snakes eyes will go blue, its colours will look dull, and it probably wont feed.
You might find your snake is also aggetated, try to avoid handling it.
