morph guide

I'm currently undergoing a project to produce a UK based cornsnake morph
guide on my website. I have most of the popular morphs, and some of the newer ones, and am currently adding pictures of hatchling, motley and stripe to go with the adult pictures.
I am now at the point of needing pictures of some of the rarer morphs (in the UK anyway!), and would love to hear from anyone who could help. All pictures used would be re-hosted at my expense to avoid using your valuable bandwidth, and all would carry a credit to yourself and/or photographer and also a banner link to your site would be included on my reptile links page.

i don't know if posting a direct link to the guide is against the rules (can a mod let me know please!), but theres a general link to my site in my signature.

Good luck Ian, i'm sure you'll get most of what you need from some of the guys here........ :)

im aware this thread is over a week old but just wanted to say you site is incredible. Nice work. I especially like the A-Z Guide to corn snake morphs.

chers Jim, i'm glad you enjoyed looking through it :) theres still a loooooong way to go till its got everything included, and will be a big never ending project because people keep coming up with new combinations!

Just as a side note, okeetees are not called 'carolinas', and kisatchies are now considered to be their own species.

Good luck

Good luck with that, I've been wondering why there isnt already a list posted somewhere on this forum...If there is I apologize but right on man.

thank you Katie :)
joejr14, i've moved 'carolina' to the description of normals ;)
Are kisatchies now officially a new species, a new sub species of gutatta, or is it still a proposal for change? Also, does anyone know if the proposal for change of Elaphe to Pantherophis (for corn snakes) has been accepted? I've tried to do some research on the good ol' internet tonight and theres massive variation of opinion, but no solid fact. So far i've seen kisatchies classified as: E slowinskii, E g slowinskii, P slowinskii, and P g slowinskii, and arguments for and against the Pantherophis name against Elaphe...

anyone know for sure whats what???!!!

Have you got a copy of the 'Cornsnake Morph Guide' by Charles Pritzel? He releases a new one each year with all the current morph info. Its awesome!!

I don't like the way you start a project, that is already done by many other people.

The key to such a guide are good photos. What you have done by now is using photos from many people and you seem to think that you have the right to do so just by adding a copyright. I don't know if you have asked Don Soderberg and all the other people but I know that you did not ask me if you are allowed to use our photos hosted on kornnatterlexikon.de.
Respecting other peoples work starts with asking and not with stealing!

I assume you to erase the photos stolen from our site within the next days.
Btw., the photos you tributed to me are actually taken by Daniel Bohle.

Greetings

1. I'm not bothered what other people think of my project. I started it mainly to help educate myself about the different morphs and the genetics that are involved in those morphs. If other people find it a useful resource, then all the better.

2. The copyright notices on the photos are there to indicate that the pictures are indeed copyrighted, and also to indicate who the pictures belong to.

3. I have asked Don Soderberg, and all the other people whos photos are used.

4. I have asked you, quite a while ago when the project first started, and you agreed to let me use some of your pictures.

5. I DO respect other peoples work, especially the breeders at the cutting edge of new morphs.

6. I DO ask, I do NOT steal. I'm very annoyed and feel very disrespected that you have brought this up on a public forum, rather than through the private messaging system.

7. If you want the pictures YOU HAVE GIVEN ME PERMISSION TO USE to be removed, then they will be gone by the end of the weekend.

I have the mails here and I did not agree - what you are saying is simply not true. I asked you to tell me the excact pictures you'd like to use and I'll give you permission FOR EACH INDIVIDUALLY. I also told you why Daniel and me do so.

Furthermore, here is the last email you sent me, where you asked for a morph and not for a picture:

Hello Michael
Thank you for your fast reply. Would it be possible to use Sulfur and Plasma? Each picture would be rehosted, credited to yourself, and linked to your site, along with a banner link on my links page.

So - when I looked at your site, I saw that you were simply using Sulfur and Plasma without me ever saying yes and - yes I'm picky - I could neither find the direct link to our site nor the banner link to our webpage in you links.
Will you again state that you did everything correctly?

And yes, I will not use PM systems because I have to write such things once a month to people stealing our pictures. Saying things in public seems to work best.

Greetings

michael -

I have looked back at my email records, and i did not recieve a reply granting me permission. I must have included your pictures in anticipation of this email and published them along with the web page when it was updated. Please accept my apologies for using your pictures.

The banner links only get done when permission has been granted - you did not, therefore no link appeared on my site.

Once again, please accept my apology. I in no way meant you any disrespect, it was an oversight on my part.

Since you did not put our banner on your site and used the wrong name, I did not connect your name with the mails we wrote and thought you were just another person stealing our photos without ever asking. Currently, there may be about 20 sites using some of our pictures and there are way more emails asking to use them, so I sometimes get lost to whom I already talked.

You are free to use the pictures that are actually in our gallery. Please dedicate them to Daniel Bohle (and not me) and include the link. You can find our banner here on our site.

Many greetings
Michael

thank you for your understanding michael, and also your permission. would you like me to limit my usage to sulfur and plasma? I'll await your reply before using anything to avoid any confusion this time :)

Hi Ian,
I have looked at the site you are building and the layout looks great. I have also seen the picture of our Hypo Bloodred Stripe on there as well. Thank you for asking us to contribute. If there are other photos you are looking for just ask as we may have something else you may need.

I think we will not have much that you do not already have. But as said, you can take what you want from the current version. We will update the site this year with lots of new pictures, so you are free to chose from the actual ones.
