moss?!?!

I grabbed a bag of terrarium moss when I was at the pet store. I use it as a subtrate for my vine snake and tried it with a snake that was having bad sheds. It worked great.

I also use sphagnum. It comes in small bags, but I have so many animals that use it I really need to start buying it in bale form.

Moss is great, especially during shedding. I have some dry moss for my snake to hide under as well.

Sphagnum moss is the sort usually used. The point is that it retains moisture. The kind of moss you find growing on walls or in your garden, won't do the job.

Plus a word of caution - if buying sphagnum moss from a garden supplies place, check that they don't treat it with herbicide/fungicide.
