Moving around IN the egg?

PtDnsr

I like calculus
Right...so I haven't hatched out tons of snakes but enough to know that once they start to come out they come out of that spot and don't move around again. Basically where I see the nose poke out is where they crawl out of. So this is what I saw yesterday on one of our eggs.

I come in today to find one of them out and the same two pipping like yesterday with the last one yet to pip. Here's what I see:

I go mess with some of the other snakes and come back to see this.

So is this guy moving around or do I possibly have twins? I doubt that I'd have twins and couldn't see another nose poke out but it's an interesting though. I haven't seen them move around some more once they pip. Who knows - I thought it was at least amusing and intriguing.

The only photos of pipping twins that I have seen, two or three, they are both coming out the same slit.

I think that some of them move around a bit inside the egg. I had one do that several times - back and forth between the same two slits. There is a possibility of twins - but I didn't see our one pair hatch out so I don't know if they'd pip from the same spot or not.

Some pippies just like to play hide and seek and the occasional two slit whack a mole. I think it's mostly because they are shy but I have never seen one. Could be twins I will keep my fingers crossed for twin :)

I've had hatchlings do more of a hack job on their eggs than any homocidal maniac in a grade B slasher movie could ever dream of doing. And hatchlings move around in their eggs quite frequently. Personally, I like to see hatchlings that rip their eggs to shreds. I think it shows a strong hatching instinct, as well as a strong hatchling. It's the ones that make little tiny slits, and then get their heads stuck, that worry me.

I've had multiple slashes in my eggs as well. It's important that you leave hatchlings alone as much as possible or they tend to leave the egg too soon. Often they will have the yolk still attached. I occasionally would take out hatched babies. Usually once in the morning, and once at night. The rest of the time, the babies were left completely alone to come out of their eggs in their own time.

It's actually kind of good that they're at my parents - I don't check on them but once a day. I've been going over early afternoon and whatnot. The first one that came out was a nice feisty wee one - rattling it's tail against my hand as soon as I picked it up. These guys seem content to stick their noses out for now which is fine. I was just curious about moving around because I hadn't seen it before (which could be because I usually only check on them 1-2 times a day). I'll let you guys know what I see today (most likely just one baby but I can still hope  )
