Multi unit display cage plans?

So it would seem my collection is quickly outgrowing individual tanks. I know a lot of people use the "rack" type systems, but I like being able to see more of my snakes. I like the efficiency of a rack, but the visibility of an aquarium.

So my question is this....has anyone built or seen a "display" type unit? I guess the closest thing I can think of is what some pet stores use. obviously it will need to be sturdy and easy to heat, light and clean. Currently I have 8 snakes that I would like to house in the unit....so the heating etc for each enclosure would be different.

I've seen units like this on the net....but they typically run WELL over my budget, so I'm hoping to build this myself.

Anyone know of plans...sites...anything?

idk how to build any but i really also want to know how. i seen people make some but still dont know how to get heat in each Multi unit.

Transparent Rubbermaid tubs do offer a pretty good view of a snake.
If you made a rack style cage but put clear plastic sides and hinged doors of the front that would probably make a very nice display. If You used the design I have in my recent rack building threat but replaced the tubs with a solid floor and glass or plastic sides and then attacked plastic doors to the front it could look very nice and be a great 7 snake display.

Why not just stack vivs on top of each other? Then you create the "wall of tanks" effect like you see in the pet shops :) The vivs need to be front opening, of course.

You can also mix and match sizes as long as you're careful :) I stack my vivs like this and I love it. If you want pictures for inspiration, just ask.

This link is for a pretty nice two cage set-up that looks reasonably easy to put together. With a little thought you might be able to expand it to a larger number...or just build 4 of the double units and stack them (if stacking them is reasonably safe).

Yeah, I'm confident that this design could be expanded to a 4-unit one easily. Just get taller pieces of melamine for the sides. Past 4 units tall, not so sure, you'd probably want to consider additional support.

Actually I found this on boaphile plastics' site....this is sort of the look that I'm going for.

If only I could afford that....

I understand that the heating could be between the layers....but I'm not sure about lighting.....

Well lighting is only really for your benifit.
But if you don't have a big budget you'd best just keep dreaming about that....

I was able to build the below enclosures (it's one unit) for only $190. The measurements for each housing area are approximately 3' long, 1.5' deep, and just over 1.5' tall; perfect to house an adult corn. I used flexwatt tape for heating each one. Also, to make the vivs easy to clean, I simply sealed all of the bottom edges of each cage with aquarium grade silicone. It was very, very easy to construct and only took about 2 days. Anyway, here's some pictures...
