Our Zelda LOVES music, particularly the Tron soundtrack. Whenever she hears something she likes, she comes out of her hide and is very active. If something plays that she's not crazy about, she hides again...so funny!
 
TBH I really don't think Zelda likes music.... In fact Zelda probably hasn't got a clue about the concept of Music..
Zelda is feeling vibrations..
I'm guessing that these are triggering things in Zelda....
Feeding response? Get the hell out of here, response?... Hide response?...
But defo not, get down and boogie response...
 
While snakes may not be able to appreciate music the way we do, yours if probably very curious as to what those strange vibrations and noises are (yes, noises. They have internal ears that run mostly off of vibrations but sounds themselves can also be interpreted by them).

Also, who knows? Maybe Zelda does like the music? It doesn't seem plausible that plants could have a music preference, yet they appear to grow much better if classical music is played while they're growing as opposed to hard rock or heavy metal music.

The Tron soundtrack was done by Daft Punk, wasn't it? I haven't seen the movie or heard the music yet but I LOVE Daft Punk, and from what I know of them they're deep into the techno-ish high bass plus high treble type music. Zelda probably definitely hears/feels this and is curious as to what those strange noises are :) . Some are probably just odd enough to trigger her curiosity, while others are too bold/sharp for her to want to explore them so she goes and hides.

I know when I play my guitar all of my snakes peek out to see what's up :D

I know that some of my snakes come out and investigate noises.

One of my snakes realized the other day that me talking was coming FROM ME.... and she freaked out!
Yes, the weirdo humans make noises.

My cat loves it when I sing to him, he likes most music- but he HATES Marilyn Manson. Too much bass, I guess.

I've heard this before as I'm sure many people have. If I'm not mistaken, Mythbusters tested this theory a year or two ago and they received some awesome results.

It turned out that the type of music didn't matter! From Mozart to Slayer and Cannibal Corpse, any greenhouse which was filled with the sounds of any music seemed to grow faster and better than the control sample. They also tested whether or not yelling insults at the plants effected their growth versus kind loving talk. Unfortunately I don't recall the results of it.

I know Zelda will peek out when I talk to her. I always come say hi when I wake up, come home from work, etc.

And she does calm down when I talk to her while holding her. She'll stop and stare at me...call me the 'snake whisperer' hehe

I thought those were amazing results on MythBusters!
I don't remember the results of the insult-yelling either. I think that the plants didn't respond to human voices very much.
 
I wish my snakes were more outgoing like that. I never see them. The one I've had the longest has been with me for almost 4 months. They are all babies except for Mango who I just rescued. He's 3. I should put him in the viv and see how he likes it.

Babies are hiders. The juveniles and adults seem to be out more, but they still are most active as twilight approaches (or sunrise, if you are a morning person).

I bet you'll see Mango more than the babies.
 
My snake, Sylvara freaks out when I'm holding her and I'm sitting next the phone when it rings. She really hates my living room phone lol! She also hates the smell of apple or lemon dish soap :p
 
All sound is to anyone is vibration. The ear drum converts these vibrations into an audible sound...so in an obscure way any music lover is simply attracted to vibration. This is a beautiful concept to me...that a snake can love music or sound for completly raw reasons. I'm not sure if its me trying to project some humanity onto animals or not...but I do tend to romanticize things...ah any way I like that lol thanks for sharing.

my snake lars responds to my boyfriends guitar playing. hes actually reached out for the guitar while my boyfriend was playing it before, and was persistent about getting to it. so we let him slither around on the guitar while my boyfriend kept playing. i found it pretty fascinating.
