Musky, peaty smell?

smigon

Old enough to know better
One of my girls (bloodred anery) always has a musky, peat-y smell to her. She is very wild, hard to handle and is about 4 years old, I think.

Is this normal? None of my others have any sort of scent like this.

I wonder if she just musks (it's not always visible) when you handle her, and 'cause she does it so often, smells like it. But I definitely think snakes have a species smell, and even an individual smell. This of a gartersnake- everyone knows what they smell like.

I was thinking she musks too, but I never see any moisture or anything which I thought I would see, like a spray. It isn't an unpleasant odor, thankfully, but just very "earthy". Thanks Nanci!
