My corn wont eat

Any help the last time he ate was the 6th Jan, he is about 4 years old and have tried a couple of times but today he struck at the mouse but that was it he just slid off.

He has a heat lamp but not a mat and just checked his temps and the hot end was 28oC and the cool end about 22.4oC, I am getting a heat mat for him but he seems to be always on his cool end anyway, and upto now I have had him since April he has been doing well.

Any advice

Well, I can only speculate, but is he going into shed? That will sometimes put them off from eating. Also, at age 4 he's a breeding age adult and may be interested in finding a mate, which also can make him less interested in eating. I would try to give him some belly heat via heat mat and see if he goes into blue phase to shed first. It would be a good place to start.

Yes I was thinking that, I do have a spare heat mat, I also thought about shedding but surely he would have shed by now. He did breed last year which I thought might be wrong with him. Will try the heat mat and try again with some food in a week or so.

I would agree with JNugent. Another possibility could be the winter season, a lot of older snakes won't eat for a long time during the winter.

Their appetites are often most voracious immediately after a shed, so you could try again straight away. However.. 4 years old? I think your boy has just grown into a man and has other things on his mind ;) The striking-but-not-eating behaviour is typical of this.
