My Father's Day Present

Had to wait an extra day to get my father's day present, but it was SOOOOO worth it. Went out on my lunch break to pick up this pair. I don't look at it as jumping on the MBK bandwagon, more as finally giving in to the alluring call of the siren :crazy02: . The plan was just to get one, but the guy at the reptile store had a pair he was looking to rehome and gave me a pretty good deal, so how could I say no, eh? They're both just under 3 feet and around 170 grams, so I'm thinking I just might have some baby MBKs to play with next year. It's tough to keep my mind on work today (since I am supposed to be working, lol... gotta love remote access). So anyway, I'd like to introduce Rico Suave and Charo (yeah, I know neither is mexican, but close enough and I like the names, haha):

Mass amounts of hate, Duff. MASS amounts of hate.

</End Joking>

Congrats on the new lovelies. Each time someone posts pictures of theirs, my desire to own one becomes increasingly harder to resist.

They're both absolutely stunning, in typical MBK fashion. :)

I agree! Every time I see gorgeous snakes like that, It makes my desire even stronger to get one of my own!

As a Founding member of the MBK Club, I like to extend my hand and welcome you in. Enjoy the special benefits of being a Member.

They look Fantastic.!!!!

As a proud member of the MBK club, let me simply say, Welcome to the Addiction within the Addiction. There is nothing like a beautiful MBK, and once you fall in love with one...you can never go back.

This is true, once you go black, you never go back. :grin01:

Thanks all! And a special thanks for the club invite. I've pretty much tied myself to my desk so I don't bug them too much right now, lol. I really can't wait to hopefully get some babies out of them next year. It'll be nice to expand my breeding horizons a bit.

do you have to seperate it from your collection because its a king?
Just house them separately, like I do with all my snakes. Currently, they are in a different room, but that's just for quarantine purposes. They'll eventually be moved into the "snake" room with the rest. If it looks like it's causing problems, I'll move them again, but I highly doubt it will be an issue.

I am GREEN with envy. What an awesome Fathers Day Gift! I wish my dad would ask for something like that... he still complains that he didn't want the dog (but whose lap does she sit it despite the fact that she weighs 80 pounds????)

The care of kings and corns is so similar that it shouldn't cause any issues. I have a four tier rack holding 2 corns, a Florida King, and an MBK. They all seem to be perfectly happy, though my male corn tries to go in my female corns bin instead of his own, all the time...he needs to wait until next spring, though...;).

I also have a 10 tier rack holding 2 Cali Kings, and 2 corns. Eventually, I will get things a bit more "organized", but as I said, the care requirements for the 2 species are similar enough to allow for this close proximity. I have all of my snakes in different enclosures simply because I don't practice co-habbing. But the seperation has nothing to do with the fact that some are kings and some are corns...just my husbandry practice-1 snake per enclosure.

Nice! You guys are about this close to winning me over too.
Anyone on this forum breeding these guys?

You know everyone says this but never does it. Buy one this year and a local show. Seriously, you can probably get a nice one for around $30. No more excuses buy one today!!!

MBk's really are stunning snakes - I really love the fact that they are so dark and so... well black! Such a clean looking pattern too er... well make that no pattern! lol. Congrats on a great present!
