My first clutch ever is hatching!

I hope it misses us too. This city doesn't need more destruction. I'm not TOO worried about the house I live in though. It came thru Katrina with barely a scratch and it doesn't sound like this is gonna be anything like that. But, you never know.

Cool somebody else from the metro N.O. area. I live in Slidell. I am playing the wait and see about evacuating.

The last snake came out of the egg just in time to evacuate to Memphis, TN which is where we are this morning.

Keith, we are actually from Gretna on the westbank. Howdy neighbor. :D

Glad to hear that the last one came out of the egg in time to evacuate. Also glad to hear that you did evacuate. Stay safe.

Thanks, here is a shot of the last pip:

You can see how I widened the slit to check his status.

The babies are beginning to shed. So far 4 have shed. I am popping the ones that have shed so far. One "for sure" male normal phenotype, 3 maybe females. :D

Congrats on your first clutch. They are very nice. I might be interested in buying one of the anery males to go with the little girl I just bought.
Very Nice.:D

I used to live in Gretna before moving up to Slidell and I still work at Avondale shipyard.

Nice to see someone from the area on here.

OK, I guess at 20 babies, there are 18. :D

After returning home from the evacuation I was able to get everyone sorted out and (almost) all into individual shoe boxes. I'll be buying some more tomorrow.

At any rate, after everyone got their initial shed out of the way I did a 1st round of popping... obviously, some females may turn out to be males. Hey, I'm new at this!

Anery het hypo and amel: females - 6, males - 2
Normal het hypo, anery and amel: females - 7, males - 3

I will pop them again tomorrow and see if my sexing holds up. The males I am 99 percent sure since they all had pretty good extension, but I plan to pop them again just for practice. Some of the females looked like maybe something was trying to poke out. Yes, I know they sometimes have slight extension.

All of them are nice looking, but some have more color than others. None have kinks that I have noticed so far. A few are "hatelings". :D

Re-sexed today: one anery and one normal each turned from female to male. :D

New Count:

Anery het hypo and amel: females - 5, males - 3
Normal het hypo, anery and amel: females - 6, males - 4

This is tough!

Sometimes you see little nubs and think, HMMMMM, so those you aren't sure about. Some seem pretty obvious, but...

One that I was sure was a female on first try and second try was a HMMMM, third try, BOING! :D

They've been out of the egg for a week (or more for the first pips) and have all shed, so today I will be attempting to feed them for the first time. Wish me luck! :D
