Ok.... I just got my tank (not pics yet) and i bought a lot of hides.... there's not a lot of floor space in there but my (future) snake will be like 5 months old.... it's ok to have a lot of hides? Or it has to have less hides and more floor space. thx!

The more hides and ground cover the better at this stage. It will give your Corn the confidence to move around the viv and feel like it isn't being watched (which makes them hide away).

Ironically, more hides might mean that you see your snake more often as it relaxes into its new home faster.

They really like it if you use little suction cups to stick plastic or silk vines to the side and back walls of the viv, too. And even take a big vine and crumple it up and just lay it along the back, draping over the hides. Then the baby will come out and hide in the vines and use them to travel from place to place.

I did what Nanci suggested, and my new hatchling loves it. :) She has picked a favorite spot on her vines already.

i heard that the more coverage you offer your snake, the better, maybe think about getting some plants in there too, my corn loves the fake ones. real ones are dangerous, but the plastic plants you can buy at most pet stores are great and my snake spends all day in them. also, dont be alarmed if your snake spends all the time in one hide, it will be a baby and really shy at first, and you also might notice that the hide is over the heat pad or something nice for the little one.
good luck with your new viv!! can you post pix?

Aww thx a lot! I'll post my viv pics soon, I just need my camera cable to download pics to my pc hehe but soon I hope you see my little guy and my viv =D

I got one of those foam tunnel things, and my corn likes to hang out there. You can also spray it with some water to get the humidity up. I have one f those half log things over Ziggy's heating pad, and his new favorite place to hide is a paper towel tube that is buried under his bedding when he wants to cool down. My friend did that with his snake too, and his corn loves it as well!
