ok... I want to move my male into a 10 gal. My idea is to buy a 20 gal and put a divider in the middle, making it 2 10 gal cages. I would then put a 10 gal heater in the middle, heating half of each cage. my problem is, how would the lid system work? would I have to go a little bit custom and make it so I could have 2 sliding lids? would I have to settle for just 1 lid?:shrugs:
 
The main problem with dividing an aquarium is that once you get the screen top on, the snakes are able to crawl over the divider into the other side. If you can get around that problem, great, but it'll probably take a custom lid. Also, to heat both sides of the cage properly, one 20gal heater is probably better. Half of the heater will be on each side, so if you put a 10 gal heater on, it'll be more like a 5 gal heater for each side.

I had the same idea a couple years ago...but I tried it with a pair of ball pythons in a 40 gal. Thinking the balls are so much thicker of snake, that they wouldn't travel over the divider...no matter how tight I made the gap at the top of the divider and the lid...they got over the divider every time! The screen top is flexible, allowing them to have their way! After a couple of months of trial-and-error with the cage, I gave up, I didn't want them to tear the screen top off from stretching it so much! So if stocky ball pythons can do it, a slender corn would certainly find a flaw in your divider.:awcrap:
 
my plan is, when they need a 20 gal, will take the divider out of this one and buy another 20 gal. and hopefully by then, I will have 1 more corn to move into the 10 gal my female is in at the time. if I made the divider just right, I could just pull that out for breeding, but I have my male in a critter cage right now so I think I will make that the breeding tank.
