My *last* gravid update...

Cegninedorf

Twang'em into trees!
...because the next time I make a thread about being (no longer!) gravid, I'll hopefully have photos of the actual person to show you! :)

The last time I posted about my bun-in-the-oven, Gravid Update, back in October, my baby was showing making funny faces and covering the face with the little fists...so, my dr told me to remind her about possibly having an updated ultrasound at a later date to see if we could get a better picture. Besides, the technician put in my report "obstruction of baby's face" which would totally justify to any insurance company that I'd *absolutely* need to have another ultrasound to see it! ;) (The norm is one ultrasound per low-risk pregnancy, and this would be/was my third...) So, at my appt before the holidays I asked my dr...and she wrote out the order!

And, without further ado, here's Baby at 18 weeks + 4 days gestation (just as a reminder & to show you Baby's development!), basically all skin & bones and probably weighing a pound, in 3D (look at those lips!!!):

NOW...here's Baby at 30 weeks + 3 days gestation, now weighing 3 lbb + 14 oz (and what a pretty pout those lips turned into!):

As you can see, Baby *still* hasn't moved that little fist from in front of the face, and even after jostling my belly, coughing and lying on my side, this is the only reaction we got:

A smile:

Finally, to show off a little, as if to say, "Ok, you didn't get me to move my fist, but watch what I can do!", Baby then took one little foot and brought it up to the mouth/nose for some footsie-playtime action...what a coy lil'Baby (and what surprisingly long feet my Baby already has! they look an awful lot like mine...!). ;)

Nine weeks to go -- and you'll be able to meet the Baby in person! :dancer: Thanks for looking! :wavey:

What a cute little baby! I am so happy for you! I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes by without any problems!

I can't wait to see the pictures of him/her in a few more months!!! So exciting...

How cute. I admit I looked at pics first and all I could think when I saw pic #2 was Angelina Jolie lips and she's all smiles.

Thank you! :) Thankfully the pregnancy has gone by rather smoothly...now, it's just a matter of getting up each morning & making it through the day. :p I'm exhausted! I look forward to sharing the baby's photos soon, as well. :)

awww how exciting!! I LOVED my sonos!! I don't however ever miss being pg hahaha I can't wait to see the beautiful baby in color ;)
Thank you! I can't say that I've loved being pregnant, either -- I've looooooooooong been ready to get my body back. It's been an experience, to say the least, and thankfully it's been relatively easy (in comparison to some of the horror stories that I've heard/read!). I'm super-excited, as well, about seeing my baby live & in person...:)

Thanks, Susan! :) I'd jump to the photos first, too, if I was reading this! Baby definitely has a pretty pout, and even the technician thinks that baby has papi's mouth (which is actually so much nicer than mine!). :) However, I can already foresee trouble: when that pout goes into action in a couple of months, it's going to be hard to resist it!!! ;) (I already know that I'm going to be the disciplinarian...*sigh* But at least Rafael & I both agree to support each others' decisions...! Oh, well...Baby won't know if s/he's been spoiled a little bit during that first year, anyway...;))

GREAT SHOTS!!! Absolutely stunning. I really, REALLY can't wait to see pics of the little one when born. Congrats!!!
Thank you! I'm certainly looking forward to comparing the little darling's ultrasound pictures to when I finally meet the baby. :) Technology is certainly amazing, isn't it? I feel so lucky that I got to have that last ultrasound...:)

Thats so neat! You know, baby looks a little squished in there... ;)

Can't wait to see "in person" pictures!
Thank you! If baby looks squished now...just wait! During these last nine weeks, I'm supposed to gain a pound a week yet (fat & water, to prepare for breastfeeding...as if I haven't gained enough already! by the end, I'll have gained somewhere around 30-35 lbb, which is considered normal, but *ugh*! I feel like a house!) -- and baby is supposed to gain another 3.5 lbb, too! I'm so glad that I'm not an elephant or a whale, with those enormously long gestational periods...nine months is beyond enough time for me!!! :p I'm excited to finally meet the little one, as well...soon, soon! :)

It's amazing how far sonograms have come! They are great pics. Cute little parasite too!:) I know this may sound counterintuitive at the moment but enjoy the next 9 weeks of freedom. As much as you want your body back having the little guy still inside you is easier than when they decide to join the rest of us on the outside. I look forward to seeing more photos as well as an in-person visit.
Terri
PS - All your other babies are doing great. Eating like champs!

Thanks, Terri...:) And, I do think about how life is actually easier now with the baby still inside me & not yet outside...but I still can't help but yearn for being able to turn over in bed without pulling a muscle along my rib cage (oy, these past two weeks have been painful!) & just being able to cut my toenails without going into contortions. :p Ah, well...give & take, right? I will definitely post photos when the event finally happens & I'm sure that baby will be making a trip to the expo this summer, for sure! :)

(And...I'm soooooooooo glad that the other babies are doing well for you! I had a feeling that Malinche would come around for you!)

She looks like a keeper! I can't wait to see her in person!
Thank you, Nanci...:) I'm excited to meet the baby, as well...:) The baby certainly looks like s/he'll be a character! :)

DYK what nobody told me about babies when I was pregnant? They are so much FUN!!!
That's actually the part that I'm looking forward to...yes, I know that having a baby will be lots of work and simply the pregnancy has caused my life to make a major shift -- so I can only imagine how it will be once the baby is here! -- but the time feels right in my life (though I never imagined that it would ever be!) and I'm just looking forward to it. I can also imagine that if the baby has had this much of a sense of humor already while inside the womb, imagine this little one outside, in the real world?! We three -- papi, baby & me -- will have a blast. :)

So do you have names for him/her?
Yes, we have names...in fact, the names were picked a year or so before we even got pregnant! :) I heard the girl's name while watching a movie with my boyfriend -- but the name was just used in the film, not even for a character, so I have no reference to associate with the name, which I like. :) We both heard the name, looked at each other, and thought, "Yeah...we like that...," especially as it can be easily pronounced by his Spanish-speaking family and my German-speaking family. :) I did some research and I liked it even more after reading the meaning & how uncommon -- yet how incredibly simple -- it is. It's also coincidental that it's a pretty perfect combination of both of our mothers' first names together...:) The middle names will be after our maternal grandmothers (it's tradition in my family to have two middle names, generally after grandparents) -- and the same would be true for the boy's middle names, as well (maternal grandfathers). The boy's name is the male version of my Oma's (maternal grandmother's) name -- also, super-simple, not too uncommon name. Both first names aren't too exotic, nothing unusual or Hollywood-ish :p, but also neither name has made it within the top 100 of the Social Security Administration's lists for the past 80 years. :p

And since the baby and I are both measuring perfectly on schedule, I guess that you'll just have to wait until March 10th to find out what we've named the darling. ;)
