My Mouse Colony.

Yeah, but we learn from our mistakes. I really wish I could have known about the beddings beforehand though. It's never good when creatures suffer due to a human's mistakes. :/

Yeah, I know.
Thanks to the internet and most people looking up care sheets on animals they're interested in, it doesn't happen much.
I try to explain to people, just because the package says you can use it doesn't mean you should.

Hi, adam

No problem, i survived it ;)

i can understand that coming from keeping your mice as pets alone your views on the care afforded to them may differ to others who are breeding them on a more commercial basis.

I'd have to agree. And my colony is considerably smaller than many, now that the death row cage is gone. I only have eight snakes, so I don't need alot of mice, so I have alot of time on my hands on some days. ;)

Wow what cute mice. If I had them I would be tempted to keep some as pets because of their markings. I might not be afraid of these ones either lol. Great job though on their care. And as a though cuttlebone is good for them to naw on too for calcium.

I love the pics where they are all under the newspaper. Like tunneling under snow, only different.

Jasper is my pet! :) He's not going anywhere. I love him to death. I might keep Tiny too, 'cause she's.. Tiny. xD It's amazing how attatched you get to an animal you hand-feed.

They love playing in that newspaper.. I just wish it was more absorbant. It needs to be changed alot. :)

yes my daughter has ended up keeping 3 of my mice, i started of with lab mice but then I got a couple of different coloured one now I have got grey, sandy and chocolate coloured mice as well so she now has 3 in her bedroom getting spoilt.

I never thought of cuttlebone for them to chew on I may try that next week.

My parakeets used to chew on cuttlebone like it was hard candy. They loved it. That might be a good idea, seeing as they don't show much interest in their antlers. If you google "antler shed", you'll see alot of antlers that have been chewed up by mice in the wild. :) I found it very interesting that they know how to get additional calcium.
