Hi All...
Not sure where to post this so this seems like as good a place as any.
It all started with 2 corn snakes for my sons.... Then being a nice friend we offered to "snakesit" for some friends and took in their ball pythons and western hognose...Now they are all staying :crazy02:

My friends all think I'm nuts! My son calls me the snake dork! And when I caught myself cooing to the baby ball pythons in the pet store I was even wondering if I should be worried.

Anyway, I'm trying to make sure that all are happy/healthy/and well cared for. Which is why my son calls me the snake dork because I'm doing alot of research into each one! :shrugs: What I have discovered is that while they have all been kept basically the same (same temp/humidity etc) there are definite different needs. They have all survived but I personally would like them all to thrive not just survive.

Which brings up the question... Can anybody refer me to websites for Ball Pythons and Western Hognose (the latter being the hardest for me to find). This site has given me tons on info on Corn Snakes and I'm pretty comfortable with what I'm doing for them. I've found basic care sheets so I know that i need to change temp/humidity and housing for the ball pythons as they have been kept together! :eek1: But I'd love to find a similar forum or even specific people who keeps these types of snakes.

Any help/info/comments will be appreciated! Just sign me...The crazy snake lady!

(all together now . . . ) HI Vicki!!

Unfortunately there is no cure for what you have, and even coming to these hourly, daily, weekly meetings, your disease will not get any better. Sorry to break it to you, but someone has to be up front and honest with you. No sense in being delusional. Be sure to review all the posts on building your own racks and where to purchase the best aspen shavings, rodents, and cleaning supplies. :)

As for BP and Hog sites, I can't help . . . all I can do is accept you for who you are and the condition you have!

Thanks Drizzz...

It would have been nice if someone would have warned me about the addiciton before we got the first one! Oh Well! :shrugs:

Just spent my lunch hour driving out to pick up a 60 gal tank for the BP. I must be nuts!

You're in North Dakota?? Born and Bred in South Dakota and transplanted to CA...talk about culture shock! :sidestep:

Yeah, right, like anyone around here is going to do something foolish like that!! :crazy02:

As for moving to California, maybe if enough Midwesterners move there, they have to eventually start returning to normal (The californians that is!! . . . no offense Carol!)

I am relatively new to the Hoggies, but they are quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Where in South Dakota? My parents live in the Black Hills.
And no use getting a sponsor, most of us would talk you into getting the snake :grin01:

I was born in Sioux Falls and raised in Pierre. Still have a grandmother and a couple of uncles up there. I have lived in Sacramento CA for almost 20 years so I'm pretty acclimated to this. When my grandmother tells me about the latest snow storm I'm pretty happy looking outside....especially since it's stopped raining...well at least for now!

Yeah, I guess the sponsor thing may be a lost cause. The lady I bought the tank from was converting over to a rack system because they just have too many for tanks (I think she said she has 70 snakes). She just smiled and said "it all starts with one" :)

I'm not planning on adding more....BUT  My son thinks we should breed the Ball Pythons AND  The Northern CA Reptile Expo is in Sept and I REALLY REALLY want a bright colored corn! Like a reverse okatee or a candy cane, or a bloodred...Something really bright...Ok, ok, my addiction is coming out! Really, I'm just gonna stick with the 5 that I have  really.....

corn nana... your post just made me smile.... as the thing with corns i'm so attracted to is the beautiful colors... that and there (mostly) friendly demeanor (yes, i'm still trying to tame down the butter that i received).
