My new baby!! (and ID help, please)

Plissken

Crazy Snail Lady
Hi everyone! I finally managed to get pics of my new snake, Connor :)

I was hoping I could get some opinions on what type of snake he is? I can't decide if he's corn, rat, or a hybrid. I realise these aren't the clearest pictures in the world, but they're the best I can do for now. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Here's my baby:

I got him in as a rescue. He was mistreated by his last owner and isn't feeding too well. I think he's rather skinny. Soon be attending to that. :grin01:

The colouring is somewhat like a caramel in my opinion, Yet is there a slight tinge of forest green?... however i have never seen that side pattern before.

Is it possibly hybrid?

he looks quite similar to my ghost corn.. dont know if its the lighting or if his pattern is that brown?
Ok, I know my monitor is on photo settings, but if that looks like your ghost, you were taken my friend....

Anywho, since your photos aren't that great I would suggest searching morph guides and compare them to your snake since you can see the true colors. Otherwise you'll end up with a couple hundred guesses... you would be better off asking, "What morph isn't my snake?" :D Here are some links...

http://www.morphgallery.com/
and my favorite http://www.serpwidgets.com/Morphs/morphs.html

Good luck, and by the time your done searching you'll have a nice long list of "Wants" :grin01:

well i know mine is a ghost for a fact. ive matched him to every ghost pic in your links as well as others in the past. now by no means am i an expert but there is to many ghosts that look that similar for him not to be. Yet if hes not and free snake is a great snake right?

Lol, true, "free snake" is my favorite morph of them all, my least favorite would be "Mite patterned" corn snake :grin01: But really, on my monitor that snake looks yellow with brown saddles even with the green wash of the pic itself.... That's why threads asking what morph they have rarely give an exact answer other than the normals and amels....

If thats a normal cornsnake. Then i need to develop my film and fast to find out what my boy is roughly lol

I was thinking normal too. Perhaps some better pictures after he's settled in. Maybe some of the head pattern and one of the whole body from above and maybe a belly shot. I certainly don't see the green wash you were talking about Tula.

"Normal" cornsnakes can run the gamut of Miami looking to Okeetee looking to what yours looks like to about a hundred other variations. "Normal" by no means implies one exact look.

Exactly right. These are mine. They are Okeetees which is a variation of a normal type. The last is a normal aztec. Even amongst the Okeetees there's variations.

I was thinking normal aswell, but the side pattern baffles me? Poor lighting doesn't help but Meg, I'm convinced the wee mite is somewhat green!! haha

Thanks for the input, everyone. The only thing that would make me doubt his being a corn is his belly. :shrugs: It doesn't look it in the first pic, but his belly has a pinkish/reddy tinge to it that I've never seen in a corn snake. I personally suspected hybrid.

Next time I get him out I'll try for some more pictures!

That's a lovely little snake! Unless you get a known morph from a good breeder, you get a beautiful snake but no guarantee of it's genetics, and as 'normal' is so variable, you'd maybe be best to say you've got a lovely normal cornsnake?

It could well still be a Normal.. Better pics will help a bit more though,
The T-bloke has a very orange belly. Of course we are 99% sure he's het for Blood, but here you can see what I mean:

My GUESS, is that you've rescued a beautiful caramel corn snake. Congrats on your new sweety!

How can that be normal when I've been told Dante is normal?
Here are two adult normals. They don't look anything alike, nor does either look like your normal. Mucho variation in normals. :)

Thanks very much! :)

Having looked at some morphs and pictures of various young snakes, I have to say that I'm inclined to agree with those who think he might be a Caramel. He looks almost exactly like some of the young Caramels I was looking at.
