My new rescue!

I think my husband would kill me if he knew i was pureeing mice in his blender :p I'm lucky he tolerates my snake habit as it is! I am going to ask my vet if he has a pinkie pump this week though.

Considering the stares I get from my roommates just from thawing out pinks in coffee mugs, I think you're probably right!!
Good luck with the little fellow. It's encouraging to know he has eaten a few times. Perhaps he will be more comfortable in your home. Sometimes there are snakes that just don't make it though. Ya never know, I'm cheering for you though!

I had to buy a new blender, my boys were too squeamish even though I'd washed the darn thing really well!:shrugs:
For producing a pinky puree, you can chop a pinky really finely using a dedicated sharp knife and a dedicated chopping board :)rolleyes:) then mash it into a paste, chop again, repeat. As it becomes minced it thaws and you can try squishing it through a syringe to see if it's fine enough to extrude gently rather than come out in fierce squirts. If it gets stuck, bang it back out of the open end of the syringe and recommence mincing and squishing. I used the blender for preparing Lil's feeds in bulk, blending 10 or so pinks at a time then freezing into separate servings. It's really not much trouble to mince up a single pink finely enough so it'll pass through a syringe. I used a 2ml syringe, but be careful to practice your squirting technique, because the pinky can come out of a small syringe with quite some force. (I know it's counter-intuitive, but a bigger syringe generates less forceful squirting for the pressure you use) I found squirting @ 1/2 a ml, then setting Lil in her tub and waiting for the little bulge to travel down to her tummmy worked best. Too much in one go meant she was more likely to just hoik it back up instead of swallowing it.
I do agree with Susang though, that a tiny live red in a small tub may be the answer to kick-staring the feeding response unless the snake continues to refuse and loses weight and condition.

you could always buy a dedicated device for mincing up your pinkie for your troubled feeders & SLAP CHOP them! :dancer: LOL!
