actually I think he's smart in acting dumb, to get away with stuff LOL He can be quite crafty in trying to cover up being naughty.

It seems like dogs always know when they can get away with things!

Hey, thanks for posting the froggy pictures. I've been dreaming of creating a water and land type aquarium. (Some pond, live plants, some frogs possibly) I'm going to do some research to see if dart frogs could be the frogs for this set up. In the orrigonal set up I saw at an aquarium store the frogs that were included in the habbitat were underwater frogs. I think the Dart Frogs would be preferable though! I'll be joining the forum, at least just to check things out.

Haha. Our Shepherd was pretty smart, but the chow/everything else mix that my dad got after we had to put Ru to sleep seemed to act smart sometimes and then like a total moron just to get away with things other times. I would love to get another GSD someday. And I would say that yours does indeed look ideal.

Beautiful frogs you have. Like the beardie too but I LOVE Riley!

Having just adopted a 2 year old GSD mix, I can see the resemblance. :D

"Update"
I've just spent pretty much all day that I've been up so far browsing the Dendro boards.

:eek1: Wow, my eyes kinda hurt but I can't stop looking at viv construction threads.

You have to be very careful with darts and water though. They can drown believe it or not! They can't swim. You need to either give them only enough water so that they can keep their head above while their feet touch the bottom....or provide lots of ways to get out of the water (branches, rocks, sloped sides) and nowhere they can get confused underwater and not figure out how to get out. I've seen complex viv's with fish and frogs. Only thing I've done though is put a female betta in with them. I'm affraid a male would bite a dart frog, being brightly colored.....but the females are good because they eat drowning fruit flies :) And you don't need a filter with them :) I just suck the water out with a turkey baster once in a while. But in general, there's really nothing else you can put in with darts safely....except maybe for small fish which wouldn't come in contact with them anyway. I'd suggest getting used to a simple dart vivarium first though, before you try a complex one. The hobby takes a lot of trial and error.

awesome collectoin of frogs you have..............the colors are amazing. quick stupid question though: about the pic of the on on your finger, how old is that particular frog? i have seen some at a few expos before and they all looked real tiny. are most of these pics that you posted of frogs smaller than a quarter? they sure look bigger in the pictures, but then again i can't tell how much you might have zoomed in to the the shot. just wondering how big they get as adults.
once again, awesome colors on those frogs.

All the frogs in the pics are bigger ones....1 or 2 inches snout to vent. I don't have any thumbnails right now, as they're called, but there are many species of dart that are very tiny as adults! The one in the pic is a frog that just morphed from tadpole to frog that day....which would be considered his "morph-date" (used to determine age instead of hatch date) They do look like frogs for a while with a tail...but that was the first day you couldn't see the tail anymore at all. He's now probably 1 1/2 inches long. A thumbnail species of dart frog could be just little bit larger than the baby in that picture as a full-grown adult! The most popular, and least-costly thumbnail species available in the US is Dendrobates Imitator.

The ones you see at shows are usually just babies of larger species. Sometimes there's thumbnails...but I very rarely see darts at general reptile shows that look very good unless they're from a person who specializes in them.

Here's a pic of a D. Ventrimaculatus (wonderful name huh?) that I used to have. She is an adult, and she is sitting on regular sized fish gravel! It's the only pic I have with a size comparison...
