My Poor Gwendolyn (Im really upset)

I'm Me, Deal With It
I know Im gonna regret saying some of this stuff later, but I am so upset and mad and p.o.ed right now I need to say this...
I little while ago I bought a new leopard gecko from one of the people on this site. She is a beautiful little thing and I wanted to get a roommate for Gwendolyn, my patternless leo gecko.

The new girl is a little squirmy and jittery, but she just needs to get used to me. Gwendolyn is the most gentle thing in the world, and will sit on my shoulder forever.

So, the new girl has been in isolation for awhile now and I decided it was time to indroduce the girls. I bleached everything to disenfect and get rid of the scent, and rearranged the viv so it was a new place for both of them, so it wasnt one geckos territory.

I put the girls in and the ignored each other for a little bit.

Then it happened. The new girl started attacking Gwendolyn. She kept bitting her even when Gwendolyn tried to get away into a hide (this was in a period of 2-3 seconds). So I immedeatly grabbed Isabeau and tossed her back into her temporary viv and assessed Gwendolyn's injury status.

Praise God, it seems she was getting ready to shed and has only received wounds to her old skin. She is walking around her viv now very jittery and nervous... I am just so pissed right now that this happened to my little Gwenny. Hopefully there are no long term affects in her behavior or anything like that.

Im just so upset right now...I needed to write all this down to release...u know?

Sorry for poor Gwendolin, but it's not anyone's fault, some geckos do fight to establish dominance. I know you're upset but Isabeau was only following her instincts

I know, I've got a blizzard called Blossom, I can't even bring myself to risk breeding her. I love the snakes, but Blossom actually runs up my arm for handling, geckos have a quirky little personality all their own. I hope the shed helps Gwendolin feel better soon.

What size tank were they in?

A few years ago I gave my brother and sister each a leopard gecko. The two girls have been living together since they were wee hatchlings and just this summer they started fighting. My mother has had to separate them because the ones beat up the other bad enough that she needed treatment on her tail. They are now living in their tank happily with a divider separating them.

i put them in a 29 gal with 2 humid hides, 2 cool/warm hides, 2 food dishes and one large water dish.

What Im thinking of doing now is:

I have an extra 55 gal tank that someone gave me, so my dad is gonna put a plastic divider about 3/4 the hight of the tank high, so that way I can use one light and not have to worry about the placement of two tanks.

i am feeling better now. gwendolyn seems to have calmed down so that has taken a load off my mind

I think that's a very good solution, Meagann. It stinks that you can't keep them together, but sometimes they just aren't in the mood for company. :)
