Is my tank set up good for my baby corn snake? It's a 10 gallon tank. That little ball of light in the middle is a flashlight, the light doesn't light up the tank very well.

It looks really nice. You have everything you need, so I think your baby will be really happy. :)
 
It looks like you have the basics covered. I like to provide a LOT more vines for my babies. The viv doesn't look so stark, and the babies LOVE climbing vines! Sometimes they are so comfortable they will even sleep curled up in the leaves. (There are hides in there, they are just buried by vines!) Here is one of my favorite vivs:

Wow very leafy tank Nanci. My corn just arrived today, and I decided to name him Lance. He likes to climb around the inside edge of the lid, and I had to put tape over the holes in the corners. His pinkies will be here tomorrow, and I really really want to hold him now, but I'd better wait. He dug a little tunnel under one of his hides. I don't think he's figured out that there's a warm side and a cold side. He's so tiny, I thought he'd be a little thicker, but I guess not. He's almost about a centimeter thick at his head. He's so cute!

Yeah mine likes to do this as well. It's cute at first, but when it's time for feeding or cleaning you have to wait till they get down or you'll knock them off the lip and they will fall into the viv. Not a good thing to say the least. But it looks like you have a nice basic setup. In the photo gallery they have a great thread that is called Show us your viv's or something along those lines, and he has over 50 posted pics of different setups, check it out, it's pretty cool some of the creativity people have. I got a lot of good ideas from seeing other people's setups.

A thermoSTAT controls the heat output of the heat mat and allows you to turn it up or down depending on the temperature.

A thermoMETER just reads the temperature, it doesn't control the heat mat, which is why it is recommended to have both ;)
 
when i buy my uth and thermometers and thermostat, is there instructions to plug in what to what? or am i making it seem more difficult then what it actually is, and when i open the packages i'll be like duh
 
You plug the UTH into the thermostat. You plug the thermostat into the wall. You attach the thermostat probe and the thermometer probe side by side in the center of the UTH, on the glass, under the warm hide.
 
I went to check on him and he wasn't in the tank. I dug around in the aspen and took everything out but I couldn't find him. I saw that on one of the corners where duct tape was the tape was off some, so I guess he escaped. I put a pinky in a dish on the ground and I turned on the space heater thing so it might go to one of those. I can't believe I lost him the day after I got him.
 
Now I found him and he's ok. My mom said I should give him a pinky, and he ate it so he must have been hungry. I just got some more locks but I don't want to put them on yet. He's up near the lid and it might scare him if I take the lid off, and I need to take the lid off to put the locks on.

The first week I had him, Vosim attempted this kind of behavior. He fell off I can't tell you how many times. It's so funny to watch him try it and fall and try it and fall.

It's also funny to watch him try to go straight up the side of the tank and then fall over sideways. What a goof...

I want to preface this post with the note that I'm not trying to be mean at all. I'm just trying to help. :D
I would definitely recommend another method of sealing up the corners rather than duct tape. It can damage your little snake's skin, and from what i've read, it can be hard to get off without damaging the skin. (Not to mention how stressful it is for a snake when you're trying to work the tape off of the skin.)

I covered up the exposed sticky parts of the duct tape with this fabric like tape stuff that I balled up. It's not sticky any more because it's old and it fills the holes good.
 
I like the set-up. I can tell from the tank decorations that you shop at petco as well. "Petco, it's where the pets go".
