My version of a 'Good Guy' post...

SnakeNbake

Cuz that's how I roll!
I was going to write Terri Manning (CornCrazy) a private message but instead chose to make a post because I want everyone to know how wonderful she is.

A few weeks ago I was at a pet store and saw a baby snow motley that was sick. The owners said they were just going to let her die so I took her home in hopes of helping her. I had no experience with sick snakes and no idea how to treat her respiratory infection or force feed her. With the help of the people on this site, I learned how to get food and water into her. It was Terri though who went above and beyond to help me, a stranger, in a time of need. She not only sent the antibiotics little Sophie needed, but she also sent the right sized tubes and syringes I didn't have. She even measured out the exact dosage Sophie would need and wrote all the instructions on the bottle.

Not only did she do all that, but she asked for nothing in return. She refused payment of any kind. Now I know why she has so many 'Good Guy' threads about her on the Fauna Classifieds site. Just the fact that she shipped medicine to a stranger in Canada, without asking for anything in return, speaks volumes about her character.

Terri, I can't thank you enough. You are truly a good person and I wish you the absolute best in life.

Glenda

wow!

Im so glad that there are people out there like that. it makes you a little happier to be human, i think?

Hows the snake doing?

Surprisingly, Sophie's still alive and kicking. :D
I seriously thought she wasn't going to make it a few times but even after one regurge, she's still hanging in there. I had no problem giving her the Baytril and she has kept it down so far. She's still scrawny but she's not weak like she was when I got her. Hopefully the Baytril will give her the boost she needs. I'm looking forward to the days when she rolls her eyes at me and tells me to take a hike like Sir Killsalot does. Speaking of him, I got to see him shed for the first time the other day. I got all excited and was talking to him through the mesh cage lid. It was like something out of a movie. I was telling him he looks all shiny now and wouldn't you know it, he struck at the lid and made me scream and jump backwards. I tripped over the chair behind me and did a lip skid into the floor.

If snakes could laugh, he would've.

heheheh.

everyone loves an endearing grouch.

have you got any pictures of the little one?
props for rescuing her, many people would've just walked away.

Glenda,

I really hope the medicine helps little Sophie out. Please keep us all posted on how she is doing.

And you're welcome! It was my pleasure to help out someone who shares my love for snakes. Luckily I had a bit of Baytril left from when I treated one of my little ones!

P.S. - This is what your praise did... (made me blush!)

I'll definitely keep you guys updated. The most recent pic I have of baby Sophie is this one...

Three cheers for Terri! Your post brought back memories of when I first showed up around here and she answered some questions for me via PM concerning health concerns as well!

Glenda -

In the midst of my usual snark, I have a soft spot for threads like this.

Kudos to you for giving kudos to her.......of course, those of us who have seen Terri on this forum for some time could tell you that you're preaching to the choir.

regards,
jazz

I believe this is the second thread I've seen someone praising Terri, or maybe that was a diff. one. Either way that is really awesome that someone would do that for a snake. Im glad you saved that snake and hoped you told that store off, or threatened to burn it down at least (minus the animals). Im happy to hear that your girl is doing well.

I'm so happy to hear Sophie is doing well. I really look forward to the day you announce she has eaten her first pink. Bless you, Terri, for helping.

Way to go Terri! You make our community great. *big hug* =)

And thank you Glenda for sharing this with us all...it's good to show us the fine individuals we've got here on cs.com and gives us all something to live us to.

Go Sophie! Keep kickin' girlie!

I just love hearing stories like this. Terry is definately a great person and is very helpful. Good luck with the little one Glenda, she is in great hands :)

I have a weird and kinda funny update. I was at the pet store (different one than the one I got Sophie from) to grab some Bearded Dragon food. I decided to peek into the corn snakes tank and I saw a bit of one of the snakes and thought it might be a Ghost. Now if you know me at all, you know I have wanted one of those for awhile. So I asked the girl if the snakes were ghosts and she said to me...and I'm not making this up..."Uh..they're corn snakes." I tried really hard not to laugh because she was looking at me like I was the dumbest person alive. So I tried clarifying and said, "I meant are they ghost corns?" To which she replied....again, not kidding..."They're not ghosts. They're right there in front of you!" hahahahahahahaha! She actually thought I was asking if they were ghosts, as in spirits. It was so hard not to laugh but I didn't want to make her feel dumb. Finally I just asked to see the snakes and sure enough, one was a beautiful ghost. She looks like a silver queen but I think she's a regular ghost.

So now I have a new snake. She was advertised as a baby but she's almost the same size as Sir Killsalot...lol! I brought her home and put container next to Sophie's tank while I set up her new viv and I swear for the first time ever, Sophie acted like a normal, perfectly healthy snake. She was literally scaling the walls to get a better look at the new stranger. It was so cute because Sophie cuddled into the corner right next to Molly (ghost) and just stared at her. So I moved Molly's container further back to see what Sophie would do and once again she got her little body going as fast as she could to get as close to Molly as possible. It was just such a weird change to see. Sophie even went over to her water dish, got a drink and came right back to sit next to Molly. So I decided to put the two tanks on the same shelf a few feet apart and Sophie is still scaling the walls to get a better view of her new friend.

I don't know why she's acting that way but it's really neat to see her moving around a lot like that. :p

Glenda,

I am glad to hear that Sophie is moving around a bit more. I want to remind you of the importance of quarantining your new additions. It's vital that they are not exposed to each other until you are certain that they are in good health.

Congrats on your new addition!

Oh no! I forgot all about that. They shouldn't be on the same shelf? I keep Sophie and Sir Killsalot on opposite sides of the room. Should I do the same with the new girl or is she supposed to be in a whole other room?

And once again you helped me! lol :p

I would at least keep them across the room from each other. Another room would be ideal, however. Also, be certain to wash your hands throughly before handling them.

:roflmao: :roflmao: LOL!!! Good for you not to laugh in front of her, I bet that was hard.

Congrats on the new snake.

For what it is worth....Terri is top notch in my book. She has some of the best animals and is a great person to deal with.
