How long should I wait until I bring home my new snake? I have an uth, 2 thermometers, a humidity guage. the uth says it takes 6 hours to warm up the tank. I'm useing paper towels and newspapers for substrate, will be switching to aspen when he's older.(walmart sells a big thing of it for less then $3.00) Any last minute advice for me? Also useing paper towel and toilet paper centers for hides (for the time being, I plan on adding 3 hides, some vines and something for him to climb on)

As long as everything is clean and ready, and you have the temps regulated to where they should be, then you're ready to add your new snake!

Just make sure your viv is secure (i.e. escapeproof) and you're ready to go!
Let us know how it goes,

Its funny I have 3 hides in my tank and I put in a paper towel tube. My female loves that hide. I can count on her being it most of the time.

I confess that I use paper towel tubes a lot, and they are almost always favourably received.

I have two of those "tight grip" clips that are supposed to keep the lid on. Do they work? I also got 10 pinkies. All I need is a snake. :)

I use the lid clips on a wire lid when I use 10 gallon tanks. I'm nervous though and I always use 4 or 6 per tank. Takes forever to open each tank! However, I have never lost a snake that way.

Hey well I use the metal screen lids for my 2 butlers garter snakes and i dont even use locks.. its a snug fit and ive had them for 6 years and no escapee.. for my corns i got hudge tanks that have sliding top/padlock lid.. that i dont even lock tho i doubt the corns can Slide it open :p
