Name help!!!

Daenerys

Mother of Dragons
For the first time in my life I have no idea what to name something. I love naming things and usually have no trouble picking names for my animals, but little tegu here has got me stumped. I just can't think of a good name for him! I am pretty picky and like names that have a certain vibe and/or meaning to them. For Teggie I want a name that sounds intimidating yet I could shorten it to a cutesy nickname. Like Maximilian/Maximus shortened to Max....except Max is too common a dog name for me to use. So...any suggestions?? Even if your ideas don't fit my "criteria" please post them, I am open to changing my naming plans :)

Hmm, he might be a Smaug....idk, I have come up with a lot of ideas but nothing seems to fit him. I'll try Smaug, see if it works.

You could kinda copy something we did with one of our tarantulas. Its name is Tarantulasaurus Rex, Rex for short. Your Teggie could be Tegusaurus Rex.

Hahahaha, not a bad idea! I could just name him Rex, and call him Tegusaurus Rex for funsies ^_^

In a similar vein to Dionythicus' suggestion, if you like gladiators or latin names, you could call him Teggerius Maximus (or T. Minimus, or T. Augustus Cute-i-mus) and then Teggie for short.

Hahah, perhaps. But I rather like the idea of Tegusaurus Rex. I do have the tendency to give my animals multiple nicknames so I may use your idea too :p

This was just a few off the top of my head & looks like I got beat to some of them but here goes. In keeping with the Latin, Augustus, Cornelius, Julius & Tiberius. Nicholas. Gustavus or Gustave.
I really like Gustavus Adolphus, he was a neat ruler, so had to throw that name in. And it shortens well.
