I recently got a 5yr old corn from someone who didn't want it anymore. The snake wasn't cared for the best-and I'm curious what everyone suggests on how I should go about getting him out of the cage. I believe he hisses at me when I goto grab him, and when I first touch him he starts flexing his body and kinda jolts it around, then runs! Haha

I've picked him up and held him at least 30mon a day since I got him, I just don't know if I should just grab him, pet him first (that's when he jolts his body)... or whatever else u all suggest.

He sounds like he's been handled (because he doesn't seem to be defensive with striking and rattling). I scoop mine up with both hands cupped. Don't hesitate too much or it makes them nervous.
Does yours make a tight "S" shape with his body?

I would use the word scoop vs grab. If he is all curled up just slide your hand(s) under him and scoop him up. If he is already out and moving then go for the middle, once you have his middle in one hand, use the other to support the front while you get him out.

Watch out for the tail, some of them use it to grab onto the side of the tank or decorations. One of mine always does it & I have to take him out slow so he doesn't get his tail all scraped up on the edge of the tank.
 
Sudden movements can upset snakes, so perhaps 'grab' isn't the right word (though I'm sure it isn't what you meant)

see if you can approach him from sideways or under rather than from above - aim for calm, confident but not sudden or jerky - and if you have committed to the move follow through even if he hisses as otherwise he will think that he has scared you off

sounds like you are doing it fine just keep doing what you are going and he will probably calm down
 
How to pick a snake up? How about "hey, baby, come to this viv often?" or "can I buy you a mouse cocktail?"? ;-)

I agree with the above, do it quickly and with a scooping motion from underneath instead of a grab from above. Sorry, I couldn't refrain from the first paragraph, with your title that is just where my mind went!!!
