New Arrivals: 1.1 True Dwarf BCI ('05s)

WOW!!! nice, how big do these get? I had my eye's set on some hogg's but I like this guy alot.

The information Dean and I looked at said that males average around 4.5 to 5.5 feet, and females average around 5.5 to 6.5 feet. These two seem like they'll come out on the smaller side, but who knows, on the Munson Plan they might make 9-12 feet... :grin01:

... but I can't deal with something that's going to get bigger than me...I needed something else dwarfish...

Now is that mentally dwarfish, or physically? ;)

very cool!!! Love the little dwarfs! No small hands to worry about!

Rain??? what is this you speak of???

Spectacular pick-ups Dean! Welcome to the wonderful world of Boas. Those two are incredible. What I think is good about being a dwarf is some people are turned off to Boas based on the size factor. Dwarfs are good for people who want Boas but prefer a smaller snake and also great for people who are limited with space to house bigger boids. Again, great acquisitions to the collection Dean but I will have to say there is nothing like holding a 7'+, 12 lbs. Boa and feeling the grace and utter strength they possess. Great snakes, hey PJ can we have one of tho..................................
Jay

Those ARE beautiful! I'm looking at the dwarf boas, too, but not for a few years.

You're not the only one who hasn't seen Sling Blade. :grin01:

Thanks for the replies. :D

Are you planning on breeding them Dean? They are awesome animals.
Well, Steve had planned on breeding them this year, but I'm going to wait until '08 at the earliest. He says that they are adult sized for their type, and I believe him, but I'm going to try to bulk up the female in particular before I make the attempt. These are just a fun thing that I wanted in my collection; I'm not planning on taking my focus away from colubrid breeding. So I'm in no rush.

Wow Dean, they're gorgeous! Boids now eh... you'll be looking at a BP next ;)
Thanks Becks. I'd like to get a pair of BPs someday, but I wouldn't be happy breeding normals, and the morphs I like are waaaay out of my price range. Someday...

So much for letting her settle in. I'm still not at home, but I got a few decent photos of Isabella with my Mom's camera. It wasn't fair having her so poorly represented in this thread. These snakes' color change ability is very cool. They go from dark to light off and on throughout the day. :)

Well, I guess it is true; you just can't have one whether it's corn or not. One leads to two, corn leads to boids.

She is beautiful. Good luck with your new babies.
:crazy02:

Dean,
Those are amazing and now they are on my wish list for this up coming next year. I have a few other critters I want before buying a pair but they are probably number 5 on my list.

Titus might have been an inauspicious name...

This Titus doesn't even need one hand to hurt me...
It was my fault, I moved his tub and then opened it to take out his water bowl. I must have moved too fast and either woke him up or just scared him, and he struck me. He only struck defensively, though. My first thought was, "Where's the camera?!" I barely felt it, and he only left around 9 teeth marks. I basically have a cool mark, and am now officially part of the bite club! :grin01: He only got me once, so I'm not sure how I got a cut on my thumb though...I didn't even need a band-aid, but Dr. Seuss fixes everything!

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to apologize for the terrible quality of pictures. Photography is not my forte, I prefer snuggling and snake wranglin'. :grin01:

Whilst that Lavinia 'tween her stumps doth hold
The basin that receives your guilty blood."
-Titus Andronicus

He got you pretty good there, Sis. He probably grazed your thumb too as he struck. I hope Thing 1 and Thing 2 make it all better. :)

You have got to be kidding me. :eek1:
The male has never shown any type of agression or even come close to biting in the 2 years I had him. The female is the one you need to watch your fingers with. She thinks fingers in front of her hide is a meal.

Watch. The male will be the one who thinks everything is food now that they are in new homes.

Maybe he doesn't like his new name. :) :sidestep:
