New Corn Snake Mamma!!!!

BigMamma

BigMamma
I just received my first corn snake as a pet per my husband. He knew I've been wanting one since we met (june 13th 2006) and finally "surprised me" with a snake this month!!! Way happy about that!! I'm still a novice pet owner, but i'm doing my BEST to make sure to read as much as I can since I was not "prepared" to be an actual owner of a corn snake. My baby is about 18" in a 10 gal at the moment, but I feel it is only kind to give him (it IS a male I know that much) a 55 gal we found on the side of the road :crazy02: So I can make it as "natural" as possible! I want my animal to feel at home if I can!!
My Corn's name is "Jonathan Davis the Korn snake" so corny...(hahahah) I know, but that is me!!! I love my snake, he only eats Frozen/thawed pinkies at the moment until I discover otherwise.
My J.D. Is growing, he's going through his first shedding since arriving in my home 2 1/2 weeks ago...so excited!!

My family and I are also proud owners of three Red ear Sliders, all under 5" in shell length....we adopted our baby who is just now 4 1/2 inches_

I would LOVE a pro-snake owner in Grand Rapids, Michigan to adopt me and take me under their wings so I can provide the best home possible for my Corn!! Or whoever feels like giving me advice!

Congrats on the new snake. You came to the right place for any questions you have. Remember, we love pictures! Did you get a color morph or a normal? Welcome aboard. Mitch.

no idea what kind of corn...

So I posted pics to my profile of my snake. :D I have no idea what kind it is. I'm going to assume it's normal b/c all of the "morphs" do not really look like mine. OH well. I'm learning!

Congrats on your new snake! And welcome to the fourum and your new addiction to snakes! Hope you find this forum to be helpfull!

Thats cool! The only thing I would suggest is to sterilize the tank before using it. Might have some bacteria and all that bad stuff, that can harm your snake :)

I suggest you dont try to feed live mice to your snake. One reason, because he might not want to eat anything ealse but live mice. And another reason; When the snake gets older and starts eating adult mice, the snake could get hurt (if you are feeding live). The snake could get hurt because when the snake is constricting the mouse, the mouse might/will bite the snake causing an injury, and if not treated properly it can be fatal to the snake. Its your choice if you want to feed live or not. But I'm just giving you a heads up :D

Hello & welcome from Idaho! Looks like a normal from what I can see. That is also called a Classic or more rarely, a Carolina corn.
