New Corn?

Well, I have only one 2 month old creamsicle corn, and though I'm not that interested in breeding when he grows up, I still might do it. I want to get a second one (Anery. A Hurricane Motley), and I want to know how hatchlings do with sliding front cages/tanks. Also, has anyone had bad experiences with them (i.e. cleaning problems, escapes, etc.). I need to get a sliding one because I would need to stack tanks. I dont think costs would be that much more, as it might even be cheaper to have a second one, so that I can buy mice in bulk without worrying about freezer burn, am I wrong?

How would swinging doors make a cage less stackable than sliding doors? I don't have any experience with this, but I've read about a number of escapes of small snakes in cages with sliding doors. Usually there's enough of a gap between the panes for a small, determined, snake (and aren't they all?) to escape.

I don't know if it's much more economical to buy bulk for two snakes than for one. You'd have to figure that out yourself. Larger frozen prey items can probably be kept vacuum-sealed for a year or so. Smaller items may still be useable at a year, but freezer-burn may reduce nutritional value.

All my snakes are in stacked sliding door vivs and I love them. I have used top-openers as well and disliked them immensely. Sliding doors can work very well indeed. Just be careful with the gap between the doors. I've never had an escape from these vivs - you just have to be careful.

I have had a 170 gram corn escape from the gap between sliding glass goor panels... Just beware.

Swinging or hinged door might be better. But I have read that putting a straw in between the sliding door (in the center part) helps.
Having a swinging door type myself I know I have full access to the viv, help when cleaning.
Either is better than a lid on the top.

My suggestion if housing a young corn in a sliding door viv, as I have had two escapes this way. Luckily I caught both in the attempt and didn't lose them.

Get a piece of double thick cereal box card and using aquarium sealant, stick it to the inside door, where the doors overlap. This has been very effective at preventing escapes for me, as the gap between the doors is then too small to squeeze through.

hi i have a sliding door viv , be careful of the slight gap between the two pieces of glass when closed, i covered this with insulation tape from a hardware shop to stop spyder escaping.

Hmm, I'll try to go to local places with sliding fronts and see what I can do to cover the gap. Right now, a sliding front is my only option as I bought a top opener , and now I need to stack tanks, meaning that I'll have to put the top opener on the top, and the sliding on the bottom.

Other Q's:

Heat Pad on the top tank: Will it effect my bottom one's heat?

Cost for owning a second corn, substrate, food, (I buy frozen mice locally, and I Noticed that the online ones with shipping cost half as much)?

Can I get a snake from an online places (SMR, VMS, etc.) that will be the same age/size of my current snake (I don't know the exact age, but assuming that I got him christmas, Im guessing he's about 3 months old)?
