New female opal motley hatchling!

ladymagpie

Lover of all things shiny
Ordered her online from blue lizard reptiles UK, she arrived safely in the post this morning. Was very worried about her as its a very cold, rainy and windy day where I am in the UK. Got a little annoyed at the courier as he held the box sideways while walking to my front door despite the labels on the parcel, but the journey couldn't have been perfect for her anyway. Only took one quick picture as I've forgotten how quick hatchlings are!

Unpacking her I noticed she was sent without a heat pack and she had done a poo in there which was in with her :( was nervous picking her up as she went straight into the classic s shape as my hand moved towards her but she decided to try and escape instead. Meant to place her on the warm side of the viv but had to put her down on the closer, cooler end as she was seriously stressed and trying to wiggle away. She's currently curled up inbetween the coconut hide and the wall of the viv.

She's also beautiful :) I think I might call her Edna but I'm still open to suggestions!

According to her records she was last fed on the 9th of this month, I left the record upstairs and don't want to go in there to fetch it out but from memory I think she's had at least 5 feeds and one shed. Will of course leave her for 7 days before attempting to feed or handle her.

Here are some more pictures! She's a very active snake, despite both me and my partner wondering around the room she's circling round the viv, and isn't camera shy! Think she might be a little madam compared to Cleopatra, who just hid for a whole day and only came out the night after. Oh and I found the heat pack hiding on the lid of the box, oops.

In the last picture there is a dark smudge on the side of her head, she was in a box with poo and it does look like that might be it as it definitely looks like a smear on top of her scales rather than something like a mite.

Beautiful snake btw, and if you continue to keep corn(s) you'll never stop learning new things about them. :)

Thank you, I think she was definitely worth having. My mum was shocked when I told her the price (three times what I paid for Cleopatra) but she doesn't understand how the same size/shape animal can be a different price.

Went to check on her again and couldn't find her under any of the hides. Panicked and digged a little in the aspen and she popped her head out slowly, tongue flicking, looking at me. A very confident and curious snake!
