just carve the polystyrene to whatever shape you want, cover it with the color of tile grout you want, then spray it with some tile grout sealent. and there ya go. it gives it a realistic rock kinda look. and you can make it whatever shape, size you want

DUDE!!! You are the MAN for that link!! I just happen to have 2 old dressers at my house that could be 2 enclosures each at around 70" long. That makes four 35" long enclosures, for very little investment. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Heck Yeah!! After reading through that link, I can build 4 appropriate sized enclosures, which means I can buy more snakes!! AWESOME!!

I wouldn't use pine, either. Most stuff sold for framing is still leaching sap.

Why not use hardwood, like oak or poplar. It's more expensive, but this stuff is usually dried much more thoroughly since it's usually used for decorative work.

If you want something really good, and cleanable, maybe plastic lumber would be a good choice. This stuff is sold as decking material. It's expensive, but it is waterproof (read poop proof), nontoxic, and can be worked with normal wood working tools - and you wouldn't need a lot. Great stuff.
