Thanks to The Snake Guru,
(who also has Guru capabilites with other repitles;))
We have added a beautiful 24&1/2 adult male Irian Jaya Blue Tongu Skink to our home.
He is a kick to watch and a real sweetie.

We have had him since Sept. 9th and the kids are still trying to find the perfect name for him...
Just wanted to share:)

Thanks:)
I love how he is so snake like but with those cute little legs.
And he is so nice and solid and easy to handle...his skin/scales have a very thick armored feel to them.

The day I went to pick him up the main route from my place to the Guru's was closed...I told the boys we should name him "Detour".;)

Okay...we have a name for him agreed upon by the kids of the house...Detour was overthrown by the majority;)

His name is officially "Cruiser"...
because once he is on the ground he is off cruising around non-stop.
(middle name "Reji"-pronounced Reggie)

We tried our best to get pictures against a ruler for you...but it is hard to measure and take pics of a moving target!

Here are the best shots of the bunch...

Several folks think he is possibly a Northern BTS due to his size and coloration...who knows...we love him no matter where his gene pool originated:D

After finishing his dinner...

Posing with his treat of bananas (which he did not want to eat so far the only food he does not like is bananas or legumes)...
CruisersLength005.jpg

His body from eyeballs to rear legs is 12 inches...
CruisersLength013.jpg

From about two inches anterior of rear legs to about 1/2 inch short of his tail tip is 12 inches...
CruisersLength008.jpg

So if you take the two approximate measurements and allow for the fact his eyes to his nose were not measured you can see his length...

The day we brought him home we measured him with a measuring tape nose to tip of tail (24a&1/2inches) on the floor with the help of both adults but today he was having none of it and we were one adult short...oh well.

I really like how sturdy these guys are...they make our beardie seem fragile...
Thanks for looking:cheers:

He really looks like he's living it up there!

I'm glad you and your family are enjoying him!

P.S

I did the comparison work of the local on this site: http://www.bluetongueskinks.net/
The Northern tend to be a lot lighter in coloration than the Jayans....while I can't say 100% if he is or isn't I'm about 95% sure he's an Irian Jayan.

I agree he looks IJ to me too when looking on their site...and I was reading there that sometimes they have been cross bred and when that happens the IJ shows through even though other factors like size of the other locale might be apparent as well...
I think he is a perfect "Hutchinson Re-Locate Locale" :D
and he is healthy, active, a great eater and a sweetie...
what a lucky family we are:cheers:

BTW: I am interested in a few winning lottery tickets if you ever run across some...especially if they are Het for Millions...LOL;)

CAM,
I am glad we were able to hook you up with one. I saw how your son was eying mine. lol I knew I had to help you get one and its pretty.

Yep my boy #2 that was eyeing your BTS is in heaven! Cruiser is in his room:)
The other two love him too but #2 pets him like a puppy, doesn't mind the scratchy nails and was literally tearing up when he was talking to Cruiser saying "I love you boy"

Kids and animals are a good combination:cheers:
