Well, I knew this was going to happen sooner or later and I figured it was better to get it out of the way than to prolong it. The female nailed me. The original owners told me she was nippy and I never play down what anybody tells me. So I decided it was time for her and I to get to know each other. I opened her tub, she seemed fine and calm, then I put in my hand in the far side of the tub from her, closed fisted, knuckles down with the back of my hand facing her. I've learned to do this in the past so in case of a strike, there's not much for the snake to grab hold of which reduces the risk of a bite with constriction which never seems to go very well. Anywho, she started the tail rattling, so I knew she was letting me know I was in her space. When I didn't move, she struck my hand close mouthed as a warning shot. When I didn't withdraw my hand after 10 seconds, she hit me again with her mouth wide open getting some teeth in me. Fortunately she wasn't able to get a grasp of anything and I quickly picked her up which got me musked but after that, she totally calmed down and was very handleable. She's definitely workable and I think as we get to know each other, she'll calm down. My wife took some pics of the battle scars and my naughty little girls
Not a bad bite at all, just a little blood.

Finally mellowed out.
