New (soon to be) snake owner!

LOL! We have an Inara but no Avatre so far. Far as I know, my husband hasn't read those books though. His first two snakes were named after dragons, Smaug and Viserion. I've actually got a Vash that was named partly for the Mercedes Lackey books and partly for another book character by another author that was not a dragon.

Was lying in bed last night with my bedside lamp on reading a bit before bed, and I could see her little head rise up in the tank from time to time as she explored. So freaking cute! :)

Thank you! Can't wait until I can actually take her out and handle her! So hard to be patient, lol. This weekend! :)

I got her! Lovely little amel female, just finished her shed before I got her, and she's super sweet!

I've settled on a name, Avatre. :) It's the name of a dragon in one of my favourite fantasy series by Mercedes Lackey, and it means "fire of the dawn". :)

She's beautiful! And I love her name - very fitting :)

My first thought was "Vash the Stampede" ;)

Of course, that said, I now have to admit to being a 40+ year old anime geek, which I'd love to blame solely on my daughters, but that would be a fib :bounce:

Thank you! And nothing wrong with being a 40+ year old anime geek! I'm a 38 year old sci fi, fantasy, dog, fish, photography, and now snake geek, LOL!

Everyone thinks its for Vash the Stampede! LOL! I actually had never heard of that character before I started telling people his name.

The numbers are a short hand that is used by herpers and refers to the gender. First number means male, second female and if there is a third number, it means gender unknown. And it's not commonly used with snakes but some lizard keepers use a forth number to refer to the fertile eggs they have. So I currently have 3.2.3.1 crested geckos, or 3 male, 2 females, 3 babies I don't know what they are and 1 fertile egg.

I can add the sci-fi & fantasy as well :) And I should have said that I'm both an anime and manga geek :dunce: As for the snake geek thing - what would be the next level up from geek in that category? I think I qualify :punch:

I should follow that with the standard warning about corns being like potato chips... You can't have just one!! ;)

"Vash" is a great character in that anime. There is also a Vash in Hetalia: Axis Powers, which is another great series. And there is a Vash in Star Trek (NG and DS9).

It's a GREAT name, regardless of the origin :D

LOL, I don't know, snake guru? :p

I have been told that already by a FB friend that used to keep and breed snakes of all species, right up to green anacondas, lol. I'm sure you're both very correct, but it'll be a while before I can afford to add a second snake to the collection. I do already have a name picked for a male if I get one, so yeah, probably just a matter of time, lol. :)

Aww, emailed the breeder to find out how old she was (was too excited when I got her and forgot to ask, lol), and she was hatched September 12, the day before my birthday! :)

Hello, Warning one corn is NOT enough ;). Geek is a great thing. I'm Sci Fi, Fantasy book , dog, cat, MATH geek.
