Hi everyone My name is Kathleen and I am the new owner of a young rescued cornsnake and I named her Meddie. I have had her for about 2 weeks now and she is doing very well. I am not a snake person but when she came in to the Vet hospital I picked her up and she wrapped herself around my wrist and we walked around for quite awhile together and she has changed my outlook on snakes, and I took her home. Nice to be here on this forum to learn more about the corn snakes.

Cheers

Hey Kat

Get use to snakes laching on to you like that. Good chance there will be many more to come home with you.

In your spare time read up on the stickies in each forum and ask away if you have a question.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum and I am so glad that this little one changed your mind about these animals. They really are a very interesting and engaging pet.

As Lennycorn said, bang away with the questions. We will help any way we can. :D

Welcome KATS,
I should warn you, snakes are like potato chips, you just can't have just one. Ha, Ha. There is a lot of information in the stickies like Lennycorn said. And as Lennycorn said, ask away on any questions.

Welcome to the forum and the wide, wonderful world of snakes. They are fascinating creatures. Hope you enjoy your new pet. (Hint, hint...we like pictures. :) )

Hi there and welcome! I highly suggest purchasing Kathy and Billy loves book, it's a great reference and has much of the information you need to know about keeping corns included in it.

You mean you weren't a snake person yet!!

I concur. I never had anything against snakes and always thought having ONE as a pet would be cool, lol I stared with two and now have 14 not including the babies I hatched this year. They are quite addictive, but having one or 20 makes little difference, they are all special in their own way and beautifully unique all around ;D

Hi every one thankyou for your welcome here. I live in Maple Ridge, BC. The snake that I rescued is a Anrey female and she is just about 3 feet long and is pretty friendly, she has a few faint white marking on her back that almost look like scars of some sort, maybe burns. I don't know her history or anything but she has a good home now. Gator you are right about not just having one I have a Pastel Motley or Ghost Motley coming soon so when I get some pics I will post them, her name will be Dottie. Meddie is not afraid of dogs because one of my German Shepherds sniffed her and Meddie slithered along the side of Brooklyn's head and neck, that was pretty cool.

The markings could even be scars from live feeding. I can't wait to see pics of Meddie and Dottie! Be careful of her around the dog, the dog might snap unintentionally. Good luck!

Hi Anerybree thank you for your post and I am careful around Meddie and my dogs, they were interested in the scent and movement so I let the dogs sniff her but that was all, I would not want any body to get bit. I was so busy today that I didn't get any pictures today maybe tomorrow. I had Meddie outside today sitting in the sun and she has an iredescent glow over her. They are quite unique and they do have a personality all their own. I will post pics soon, I am on holidays now and I would like to get all my projects I started finished, like my moulding for my doors and floors. I do tile mosaics and tile etching which I am putting on my bathroom wall and that is a big project. Well I have to take the dogs out now so have a good night and talk to you soon.

Cheers
