I have a 4 month old corn snake I'm a first timer I've had it 5 days my question is feeding how often and how much I was told by the pet store where I bought it once a week on Mon so I fed it and it ate just fine well today wed it seems to be looking for food going around its tank oh and what temps do they need I've read so much different things thanks

Welcome!
You can feed a young corn anywhere from every 5 days to once a week. Once they're adults, every 2 weeks is fine. You want to offer a single prey item that is the same width or a little larger than that of the snake's body at the widest point.
You want the temperature on the warm side to be 82-85, if you are using an under tank heater (recommended) make sure you have a thermostat to regulate the temperature and place the probe for a digital thermometer under your substrate over the middle of the UTH. The cool side's temps do not matter that much, but you don't want them getting into the mid to low 60s in the winter. I like my cool sides to be 75-78.

Yup, what ^ Ali said.

Don't let your snake make you feel pressured into feeding it.
If I fed my snakes every time they were 'hunting', they would be very fat.

Ok everyone please need advice ... Today was scheduled feed day for both snakes, our lil amel, youngest one we had for a lil longer went right for it did fine no hesitation just as she did last week bit our new lil motley we just got came w a schedule and so we tried to feed em he only striked at it one time while pink was in forceps but nothing we waited as good 30 min or so left em alone in his tub w it and nothing so now is back in cage not too sure what to to from here a little concerned..o I keep reading quit a few posts about ppl getting snakes from petsmart/petco n having probs

I would wait a couple of days before you try to feed again. It might still be stressed from the move! You can try braining the pinkie in a few days. I am still a bit of a novice when it comes to feeding problems. They also say to leave them over night with the pinkie.

Use the search feature and search feeding issues or picky eaters. You will find loads of information!

Make sure the pinky is warm (run under hot tap water). Put the snake in a small container with the pinkie and leave overnight. I use deli cups. You can use a paper bag. Put this container in their viv in case they escape it.
If the snake refuses, no biggie. Just wait til the next feeding day and try again.

Since this snake has already eaten for you, I am betting it will again. Most likely it is just stressed from the move and will settle in.

Yea this is our brand new one we have not seen him eat yet the other one did for us today and last week no probs at all and she also shed as soon as we put her in het home it was crazy but this our newest one is the petsmart one raisin he brand new a lil bigger n older than the other I'm worried bout em I mean its eyes look cloudy as they say happens before a shed but I'm not sure

I would give the pinkie just before you go to bed, and leave it overnight. Sometimes new arrivals need absolute dark and quiet before they feel secure enough to eat.

If he is in shed, he should not be offered food anyway. Mine usually will refuse, but some corns eat any way and some of those will regurge their food- which requires a lot of work to recover from.

Also just wondering if anyone know of or has a creamsicle I luv thier coloring.g would love to have one possibly female

how long after the eyes go from cloudy to clear do thwy shedd?

I'm a little confused .. today we just noticed our new guys eyes aren't cloudy anymore but clear and also has been more active today which its usually hiding out during the day... I was wondering how long does the shedding usually happens after this point? Could it be today he has also been kinda bumping or rubbing his head and nose on things and walls of cage takes a rest and does it again

They go back to their normal colours for a little while before the actual shed. Watch out for it happening in the next couple of days.

I need help with the new baby he won't eat. Just last night he shedd so we figured to try today to feed him any suggestions as to why he won't eat or things can do

Hello all,
First sorry I cannot find how to post questions or anything the normal way where all can see. I have a question about humidity and temps. Our new baby just shed last night and he had a hard time it came off in two peices but did all come off... I figured this meant humidity was too long but the gage says its at 44% is that a good # or should be lower/higher? If anyone could help us get it figured out is appreciate it Thnks :))

Two parts is fine and not a problem. The shedding skin is very fragile and tears easily.

A problem shed is where it really does just come off in scraps, or leaves bits stuck to the snake - especially the eyecaps and the tip of the tail.

Doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about on that score!

Okay. Now every night for about the last 3 nights I have seen both of my little stinkers scaleing the rims of the lid of thier cage! I was wondering has anyone else's snakes done this and will they stop soon? Both have locks on thier lids and something heavy on top at nite Iam still so scared they will find some way out!

It's pretty standard behavioru for youngsters and they'll keep doing it as long as they fit up there. Double-check the lid security, cos you're right - if there's the tinest gap, they'll find it!

Hello! I'm also new to the baby corn care and I'm pretty sure mine is in shed. Should I not offer her food at all or just see how it goes? I was quite concerned when I saw the drastic change in her color but I was told being dull was ok during a shed. Thanks!
