Been gone awhile, hello again. Made my corn a new home this weekend, it is 28 wide by 16 deep and 24 tall. Here are some pics.

Veru distinctive viv. I have to get me a pair of them deer-thingies too (cannot remember the right word)! Awesome decorative idea and very climbable too!

That is an awesome viv! Love the deer rack idea.
Your snake looks really thin in these pics, it could just be the angles of the photos though.

Thanks, I use the antlers for making pens and such on a lathe. Had a rack sitting there and put it in as a joke. We both though it looked good so it stayed.

I know, he does look thin but I don't know why. He eats 2 adult mice every 10 days and is healthy. Should I feed him more?

The antlers do add a nice touch! Good job!

Thank you, we needed something for him to climb on. I set the antlers in as a joke but we both liked it.

You might want to get a fecal done then, because you're feeding him well.
Poor little fella.

I thought the exact same thing. Can you post it's length and weight?

Measured him during lunch, he is 3 and half feet and weighs in at almost 1 pound.

Oh wow, I'm not the only other scatterbrained person who thought of using deer antlers for snake things. =D

Pewter on Antler

Hypo Lavender on Skull

My other free (no skull attached) antlers are adorning MY viv at the moment, sitting on my mantle around a candle. ;)

Nice roomy viv, btw. My only qualm is with the "latch". Rubber bands just don't do well over time, and I've found the ones these days don't last a month when stretched out constantly, and end up drying out and breaking when you don't intend. You could take one of those latches where you turn the bit sideways to slide the clasp over and then turn it vertically to lock it, just bend the clasp around the corner of the viv so it'd match up. Either that or a nice quality bungee cord.

I don't think your snake looks terribly thin, I have seen a lot worse around here. But he does look like he should be fatter on such a diet, especially for a male. Most of my males get one large mouse every 14 days, or else they get pudgy. So there may be something else at work that a fecal might show up.

If you get one done, let us know if anything abnormal shows up. But for now, 2 mice every 10 days is fine. Its honestly more than I would feed a male, so I think if you feed more you'd be risking regurges as well.

OMG. I love the deer rack. :roflmao: great Idea. I should thing of something like that someday. Some day I'll get a Boa and I'll do that in its viv....But with a Caribou rack  Someday...

LOL, and here I thought I'd be one of the only few with a deer rack in a viv. Nice looking snakes btw.
Thanks for the info on the rubber band, it's temporary till I find a better solution. The bungee sounds good too.

Thanks, I think the deer rack looks great in there too. You probably would want a bigger rack with a Boa.

I think thats why I said the Caribou rack. Up here Caribou's are big suckers :eek1: Like.....Eeek you see them in humongous herds.....It's kinda intimadating.

I know what you mean, I lived in Alaska for some time. they are huge animals, as are the Kodiak Brown Bears :eek1:

Kodiaks.....erk. I think I'll stick with my Caribou, Polar Bears and Grizzleys. :sidestep:
