Hello everyone,
I just found this site this morning after googling cornsnakes so I could learn more about my baby.
Although I am not all that new to snakes in general, this is my first cornsnake :)
Any snakes I have owned in the past were all wild captures, which I no longer have, and no longer persue. They are better left in the wild, I know this now.
I have wanted a cornsnake ever since I saw one as a teen (we won't discus how long ago that was, lol.)
Last Christmas, my daughter surprised me with a beautiful hatchling for my gift. After browsing through a few of the sites I found off from Google, I think I have determined Zip to be an Anerythistic, though I am not sure if he/she is type A or B, or if Zip has any other traits.
I am attaching a picture of Zip...I hope it is exceptable and not to big...I have not yet found what the size limit it.

I look forward to learning much more about my friendly beautiful baby :)
Zip has grown into a beautiful 22" - 24" cornsnake now, and likes being handled and cooed over. Zip is only one of my many animals, but is my only snake.

I am also owned by 2 Cockatiels, 2 Budgies, 1 Beta Fish, 5 Dogs, 4 Cats, and 6 Horses (4 of which are BLM adopted Wild Horses)
1 Husband, 5 children (only 2 still living at home) and 3 grandaughters.

Looking forward to meeting everyone an learning more!

Oh wow.. He's pretty, and you have quite a list of animals! Lol, as far a Anery A or B. I don't know all that much about the difference.

Welcome to the forum and feel free to ask any questions!!!!

Hello and welcome to the forum. What part of Wyoming are you from. I grew lived in Cheyenne till a few years ago and my folks now live in Gillette. Great looking snake you have and I dont think there is a picture size limit and we all love pics so of course its acceptible. :wavey:

Just a quick thanks for the welcome to all of you!
Can't stay online right now but will check back later after I get back from a trip to town :)
(we're heading in to Petco to look ...JUST to look, lol at a cornsnake for my daughter :)
She wants a white one, maybe...or a bloodred. I'm sure she will join and tell you all about it once we find just the right one for her :)

welcome, and that's a really great looking snake. It's hard to tell if it's Anery A, or Anery B. But due to the lack of yellow, I would say Anery B. Anery A's don't have much yellow if any as babies, but that snake looks a little older by the photo. So if it's a baby in the photo, it could be an Anery A that has'nt developed yellow pigment yet. And if it's a little older, I would say Anery B (charcoal), by the lack of yellow. I Hope that makes sense, but welcome!!!

Yes, thanks! That makes a lot of sence! With that info, I would definately say Zip is an Anery B as he/she is almost a year old now...daughter was told Zip was 2 months old when she bought him last Dec. 24.

Oh, and BTW...so much for JUST looking!! LOL! My daughter should be a car saleswoman when she grows up! (GRRRR, LOL!) as she talked me into getting the only, I believe it is a, Common Snow. Not positive yet...will post pix soon.
I guess I better log back off and let her have her computer turn now.....darn kids anyway, lol.

Welcome to the site. Great to see more people from the Northern "neck of the woods". :D

I'm fairly confident (as in 99.999%) you have an Anery (AneryA). The biggest telltale sign is in the eyes. Anerys almost always have gray irises, Charcoals (AneryB) tend to have black irises. Anerys also tend to have more contrast between saddle color and background color . . . of which yours has about as much contrast as you could!!

As for yellow, the tendency is for Anerys to have yellow and Charcoals to have none. It's actually just a tendency and not even a general rule anymore. There are quite a few Charcoals that get the yellow color now-a-days. What I have personally noticed about the yellow is that in Anerys it tends to be a mustardy or standard yellow while with Charcoals it tends to be a lemony or pastelly yellow coloration. Hope that helps!

Hello and welcome!
So was the daughter that gave you your snake the same daughter that got a snake today?

Welcome! It is too kewl that you and your daughter bought another corn to go with Zip. Can't wait to see pics of that one too!

Congrats and KUDOS!

Hmmm, now I'm back to square one, lol...Zip is a little darker then in the pic...my flash made him look a little lighter.

I mostly came back to show off my daughter's new baby, and to see if you all think it is a common snow or ??? (I'm brand new at learning all the types)
Isn't it a total cutie!?! She'll (my daughter) will be registering soon, I trust this is a child safe site by the rules I read through? (I will, of course, be supervising)
Thanks everyone! Have a great evening! Now, here is that new baby :)

Welcome! So the addiction is kicking in already? I just tripled the size of my corn collection today also. Well, have fun with your snakeS and enjoy the site.

PS. My family just moved to Wyoming from AZ...

Get a good look at the eyes . . . the eyes have it! ;) Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he/she pulls off a shed soon . . . :shrugs: . . . which would attribute to the darker color.

Either way, welcome to the addiction! :grin01: Hey fam, we got another one sucked in!!

Well as far as your daughters snake being a common snow cornsnake. It could be, but the picture isnt super clear on what it might be. With the variety of corns now a day, it is really hard to be possitive what the snake is without a picture that shows its colors perfectly or almost perfectly. I'm not saying that your a bad picture taker, lol. Just saying it could be a different type of cornsnake. Better pictures and time will be what will let the experts (which is not me) tell.

I'm glad you guys are sucked in now. Don't go to crazy though, they are really really addicting.

The pictures where taken right after a shed. Um, hi im zipanery's daughter. Thank you for the compliments on my new snake!! ( Oh, and I am the daughter that got her zip.)

Dang forgot to point it out, the pattern on the "possible" snow is what looks to me to be motley. I can point that one out. Pretty snake though!
