no regurge, but i overfed

That may be so, but once mine are full of a meal, they rarely go roaming around and prefer to sit in one place and digest. I have noticed when the meals start leaving only a small, or almost un-noticeable bump, they will be roaming about for hours after eating, and all the subsequent days after. I'm sure in the wild, if a large snake only found one pinky, it would continue to search for food as that wouldn't be enough to sustain it. If it got a full meal, it would have to search out a safe spot and digest, or risk losing the meal it just ate. I don't think my snakes sit around without moving, but they certainly aren't out actively roaming the viv as they are after about 3 days after eating. I can almost always count on seeing all of them after 3 days unless they are in blue. Very little before that though.

Well, all snakes are different, and even the behavior of a single snake can be inconsistent. Because you're observing this in a number of snakes, I'm wondering if there's another factor involved. What about photoperiod? Mine are in racks, but I placed the racks in a way that their fronts are exposed to natural light from a window, and there is no other lighting. I can expect max activity at sunset. How are your vivs arranged in regard to natural light? I'm curious if there's any correlation.

Mine are in glass vivs or semi-clear plastic containers with access to daylight thru a window. They usually are exposed to light however long it's light out, as they are in a rarely used guest room. There is a bit of light at night that comes in from the light off the flag pole, but that's it. They are more active in the evening, but I still can count on finding at least one or two out in the morning or afternoon as well. Usually a day or so before feeding day, they really get active. I feed them all on the same day, so I can usually count on a complete dissapearance of all of them for 2-3 days. I don't expect to see them, but do check to make sure their water is clean and there's no regurges. I check them at least three times a day. My amel is only fed every 2 weeks, so he's definitely more active in between.

I agree with this. Mine also usually hide out for 1-2 days digesting before coming out for a full night of exploring. But sometimes my snow will come out that very same night for a little while even though she has eaten a proper meal size. I don't assume that she is looking for more food. I was just saying that many people on the forum who right posts about how active their snake is assume that activity = looking for food. I just feel like in most cases this is probably isn't the case especially when people are like "Wow! I just fed my little guy/girl 4 pinkies and he's still looking for more!" or "I just fed my snake two days ago and he's already out looking for more, so I fed him again and sure enough two days later he was out looking for more again!"

I definitely do agree that if not fed a proper size meal, then alot of activity probably does indicate that they are looking for something more to eat. I'm the same way. :)

That's what snakes do (or most anyway). They eat, digest, and then explore.

Well, like my "New Geocentric Universe Theory", the photoperiod theory seems to be lacking much supporting evidence. :sobstory:

(There should be a "shaking fist heavenward" emoticon.)

*lol @ Roy for the emoticon suggestion

Mine also dissapear for about 2 days after feeding, but sometimes change hides after sunset, some even lay down in the open on a branch when digesting. Strangely, 2 of the corns I fed yesterday evening, were out and about after sunset the sme evening... and the second day too. Don't know why, nothing changed as far as I know... maybe it's a weather/temp./humidity issue...
