Hi I'm Lain, I don't have a corn snake yet but will be getting one in April or possibly May (I am going to be going out of town for a lil in both months so I am probably going to wait til I get back in May...sigh lol).

My girlfriend just recently moved in and she has a spotted python named Clay (short for Claymore) and he is the first snake I have ever handled. Thanks to him I have come to change my opinion of snakes and have quickly fallen in love with them. I absolutely love holding him and watching him move around and love his personality.

She suggested that I get a corn snake as my first snake and since I have been looking at all the different morphs and reading what I can about them and how to care for them. At the moment I am totally torn between Butters and Amel Motleys. There is a local family owned Reptile store that I am probably getting it from that has both. From what I have heard about the store (Pet Bazaar, orlando area) they are very reputable and take great care of their snakes. Anyways I look forward to meeting others and learning a lot and in 2 months getting my baby. The wait is going to suck but I don't want to leave it home while I am gone for nearly a week, especially with it being so young, since I plan to get a hatchling.

Welcome to the forum! By the time you get your new snake, you'll be all ready for him/her. There's lots of good info here and friendly people, too.

Hi and welcome. Good for you that you changed your opinion of snakes.. corns did that for me. Read and follow this site very often before you get your corn and you will learn tons..

Karoni- Thanks! I hope to be very well educated about corns before I get mine. Not that I don't think its good that people find places like this forum after they have gotten their pet, but I think its even more valuable beforehand. You don't waste money on things you won't need, you know the necessities, and somewhat what to expect.

Tavia- I thought about if I got a butter naming it Butters (after the lil guy on south park lol)...my gf says I'd have to ground him a lot though hehe

Ares- I think my opinion before was just one of ignorance since I'd never had any real experience with a snake. I didn't realize that they could be so friendly. I like that while they can be very active there is still something about them that almost seems calming when you hold them. Unlike trying to cuddle with my neurotic and hyper dog lol.
