Oh and also, she took the pinkie backwards. Tail first. She's never done that. If she does strike it at the wrong end she will flip it around. Today she swallowed it tail first is that going to cause any problems?
I really would advise against soaking unless she has skin hanging off from a bad shed. Soaking prior to a shed will remove the oils they have under their skin that allows them to get it off in one piece. I learned that the hard way and only found out later why.
Oh really? I mostly soaked her so she would poop cause she had a food lump for a couple days. Longer than usual. Her food lump was gone 2 days ago but I thought I was being safe to male her poop. Good to know not to soak before a shed. Thank you. I will keep my eye on her
Yeah, I wouldn't soak them either because they will lose the oils needed to shed. However, if you see her and she has shed but not completely you can always try to use mineral oil and a qtip, it works great for my ball python because he never fully sheds. It's not a big problem if they eat butt first (hehe) but is quite funny. Just give her some time, she will shed at her own pace. It generally takes mine a week to shed.
We have a very successful shed!! I was up late and checked in her viv to see where she was and I saw her whole snake body shed close to her water dish! Yay!! Thank you everyone for your input and helpful tips!
Also, they do sometimes "back up" immediately before a shed, then let loose once they've finished the process. No need to try and make them poop under these circumstances. They really are best left completely in peace to get the job done.
Really? I havent heard that. Really good to know. I havent taken her out in about a week and a half when I noticed some changes. since she has shed and just ate today I will give her a few days to regroup and digest. She looks so refreshed and healthy! I'm excited for her!
