Not so Caramel anymore.

It is a very beautiful snake.

If all hatchlings/siblings looked like cornsnakes, but just this single snake developed in a strange way then it is not a F1 cross.

The animal might be a throwback, showing some distant ancestors origin and traits.

My first thought was that the animal might have Keys background.

She'd be a neat cross with the TS stuff Carlie has. And unless the Canadian powers that be wish to test her dna I don't see how she'd be illegal to keep. If she even is a cross doesn't necessarily mean it was a black rat snake used, could be a gray, yellow, Texas, 'glades etc...

This is very true, but for me it comes down to what I feel is best to do to maintain my integrity, it's a silly list of "restricted" species here in Alberta, but much better than some of the ones in B.C. and Saskatchewan, and I know plenty of people who do keep restricted species but I personally don't feel it's worth the possible damage to my character. And unfortunately not knowing what cross it is for certain, I would be happy to see her go somewhere that doesn't have restrictions on any of the above listed. I highly doubt that it would come down to DNA testing but in the event they did (which I'm nearly 100% certain would never happer), claiming ignorance that I didn't know just doesn't fly here.
I do think she would be a great project snake just to see what happens with her funky coloration so I'm happy to send her out to Carlie, where I know there are no restrictions and to someone who will appreciate her "odd-ness". If I could say with certainty that she was everglades, yellow, grey, etc then it would be a different story for sure but I can't and thats ok, sad yes, even though she's slightly evil LOL.

What about the male sibling??
I'm going to send him out to Carlie also, reason being is again, if something comes back later looking not right then it again becomes a moral of what is the right thing to do. I discussed with my husband last night what he thought we should do and he too confirmed my concerns about integrity of what we are offering to our customers and the idea of selling them something that is illegal to keep here to us just isn't worth the damage we would do, not only to ourselves but to those who purchase, get attached and then find out that we misrepresented what we were selling. I'm more concerned about how that would make someone feel more than the damage it would do to me, I'm kind of a sucker that way.
I know Carlie will love them and be able to use and sell them without any restrictions so I don't mind helping her out to build her program more...she was telling me she needs more girls...the extra boy, well, I dunno what to say lol...sorry???;)

Hybrids are fine here...just not black rat anything :(
She is very unique, and the belly checkers really get me honestly, I love her belly. the difference in the color on her side as opposed to the dorsal color is very interesting for sure!
Shipping across the border this way is reasonably simple and inexpensive...back into the U.S., not so much from what I hear, although I'm not too sure why:shrugs:

If hybrids are fine, are you saying black rat hybrids are not fine? I'm just asking for clarification on this as this would mean that not all hybrids are fine if I am understanding you correctly. I understand the desire to err on the side of caution though if one is not sure if black rat hybrids are not fine. For me, I'd just be sure not to cross to another sibling and outcross to another hybrid or even a pure corn if concerned about the influx of genes, but then thats me. It goes without saying of course that any snakes created from a hybrid pairing should be labeled as hybrids.

Because Black Rat and Black Rat crosses ARE ILLEGAL to have as pets where she lives. She outlined that in post #17 Read the thread instead of just skimming.

She is doing the right thing by giving them to someone else to prove out.
