Oh dear... corn snakes seem to be addictive.

I've had my first hatchling corn snake, Floyd for about a month now, and I've just acquired my second corn snake, a beautiful 6 year old amel girl. I don't plan on any more right away because I rent and don't want to have to worry so much about when we eventually need to find a new place (although we are hoping to rent-to-own this house). But I am falling in love! Corn snakes are so cute and friendly and just adorable. As it is I am itching to hang out with Syn, but I want to give her a few days to get familiar with the sights and sounds of our house before I start holding her. I also need to add to her viv, when I brought her home she had one plant lying on the aspen, and a tupperware for water. I have added a plastic flowerpot and adjusted her UTH (when I picked up her tank at the old place, it was unregulated and the glass was uncomfortably hot to my hand), but I want to get her a proper dish and some nice hides and plants and things. I think her previous owner meant well but just didn't do any research into proper corn snake care. Sorry for my bit of a ramble, but I am just loving these snakes so much :)

That's super exciting! I can totally understand. I've had my corn for less than a month, and already planning to get a ball python in 2 weeks at an upcoming show.

;)

I'm sitting on my hands trying not to bid on a gorgeous candy cane. It's killing me, must.have.more.snakes....

Resistance is futile! I can't wait for the upcoming Lakeland show to find my next youngling.

I know, I need to avoid checking the classifieds daily as I have been doing. It is tempting to adopt all the snakes that need a new home, but at the same time I don't want to be the one that has to get rid of my snakes if I ever have to move out of the pet friendly rental we are in now. You can bet though, if we end up buying this house, that there will be many more to come! :)

D'oh! How do these wayward snakes keep finding their way into my home and heart?! I have a new adoptee, a 9-year old Ghost named Sigyn. She is very friendly and sweet but will need some work, she came to me with stuck shed all over her, her viv was a mess, she had only a ceramic bulb for heat, which was actually broken. Her previous owner said she would eat four hoppers 3x a month, but I'm not sure as she is quite thin, and four hoppers at a time seems odd. When I cleaned out the viv I did find some healthy looking poops though. This is the last one though! I have no more room after wrestling her giganto-viv into my house!

lol I feel your pain. Not a corn snake but I bought a black milksnake today XD .

Enjoy your new baby!

A quick name change to Sliph courtesy of the hubs and she is now set up with a proper regulated heat mat and a nice clean viv with fresh shavings. She seems happier already!

Funny enough, there was a black milk snake listed near me too. But I seriously have no more room right now so I HAVE TO say no.

They are irresistible! I started with two.. and now I have 7.. plus two more once I get a rack.. and.. there's two more I want.. and.. I think I need therapy already. :D
