Oh man, my Cayenne Fire corn ALMOST escaped last night

My snake rack is in my room. I was sleeping terribly last night (So tired...) and around 5am I heard something going on in the rack louder than usual. Figured it was my cat trying to eat the snakes through the tubs again so yelled his name a few times. Heard the noise again and got a bad feeling so I get up, turn on my light and - there's Pyro my male Cayenne Fire yearling holding on for dear life to the electric cords near the back!

I had just upgraded him and his gf to the larger tubs. I guess there was a big enough crack from the top of the tub to the rack for him to wiggle through! I'm going to have to do what I did with the smaller tubs, keep the lid of the tub on even when its on the rack... That sure bums me out about my animal plastics rack... :nope: it just doesnt fit the tubs tight enough to be escape proof.

You can slide cardboard under the bin to tighten it up. Way easier than putting lids on! That is how my precious Boot Keys are being secured!! (And all the hatchlings, in the apparently NOT escape-proof Reptile Basics rack...) Once they are bigger- it's so nice to have that tiny crack for ventilation.
 
Hmmm

I hear that alot about those racks and my own,I use wood shims you can buy a pack of like 20 for about a dollar at Lowes or Home depot
