Damn! I made a terrible mistake! Last Monday, I fed Nightmare by putting a pinkie in his viv on a small lid. I didn't wait to watch him eat it, but I did see him move toward it, his little tongue flicking like crazy. Then next morning, the mouse was gone, and Nightmare was in one of his favorite spots, under his driftwood tree. The last time I fed him on a Monday, the lump in his belly didn't go away until Thursday, so I was leaving him alone all week, and only opened the viv to give him fresh water. He hasn't been out and about in front of me, but I have seen him in different places and he is clearly moving about in the night. I planned on more handling sessions starting Thursday night, but I got really sick, so I didn't end up doing it. Then today, my boyfriend was looking in the viv, when I was telling him about how cute Nightmare is for digging around under the tree, and he noticed the pinkie from Monday hidden between a rock, and the back wall of the viv. I ran over, and sure enough, there was a little, reddish brown, dried out blob. I have no idea if he just dragged it over there and never ate it, or if he regurged it. I don't know what exactly happened. Is it possible that the 2 short handling sessions he had last week stressed him out enough to make him regurge? Do they ever drag their food around without eating it? One of my cats has recently taken an interest in watching the snake. She doesn't do anything except sit there and stare, but is it possible the cat scared him and upset him?

It is possible that he drug it over, but not very likely. If it were me I would assume he regurged and then fallow basic guide lines after a regurge. The cat could be a problem or it could be that he is going to shed soon. What ever the case assume he regured to be safe.

A good reason not to feed in the viv...I would treat it as a regorge because you don't know. Skip one meal, then feed half a pink, then half a pink, then a whole pink cut in half. If you can get Nutribac to dust the pinks with, that's strongly recommended.

I doubt the handling earlier in the week would make him regurge later, or that the cat scared him. Hopefully it just got moved over there. Being ready to go into blue can also cause a regurge.

Based on the description of the pinkie, it appears your snake regurgitated. How did that have anything to do with feeding in the viv?

I doubt it is a regurge, it sounds like a dead, dried out pinkie, I had one last week like that but treat it as one anyway. Many of my beasties drag the pinkies back to the hide or, if in blue, just ignore it.

I am very careful to watch each beastie consume the whole thing before leaving the room, and if they start to eat they usually finish. This eliminates the guesswork of a regurge, as well as looking for the lump.
